Systems, methods, and devices are provided in which photodetectors disposed throughout a display are used to control the display brightness. The photodetectors are to be used for ambient light sensing, proximity sensing, or to compensate for aging OLEDs. In some embodiments, photodiodes are fabricated with OLEDs during the TFT fabrication process. In some embodiments, the photodetectors may be disposed throughout the display in zones containing OLEDs. The photodetectors are used to control the display brightness and color for the OLEDs in areas around each photodetector based on ambient light, aging, and/or nearby objects. A controller makes driving strength adjustments to the OLEDs in each zone independent of other zones. Photodetectors disposed throughout the display may improve proximity sensing and provide additional functionality to the device.

High pressure mercury arc lamps are commonly used as the illumination source in many projection systems. Disclosed is a method of preparing a biocide having improved durability of its biocidal activity as well as disinfection efficiency at an initial stage, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing stabilized alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite having a pH at least 11 by mixing a chlorine oxidant including alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite with a stabilizer in an alkali solution; (b) preparing a bromide ion source; and (c) adding the bromide ion source prepared in step (b) into the stabilized alkali or alkaline earth metal hypochlorite prepared in step (a). A sealing arrangement for a medical introducer having a distal end for introduction into a patient's blood vessel. The introducer includes a flexible sealing member having an aperture for introduction of a guide wire or other medical device therethrough. A constraining structure, such as a washer, tightly contacts and surrounds the sealing member just proximal to an enlarged diameter flange at the distal end of the sealing member. The inner diameter of the constraining member is less than the outer diameter of the flange providing a constraint on the sealing member and lessening the distortion of the sealing member normally occasioned when a device is pulled outwardly or proximally through the introducer away from the patient. When the constraining structure is a washer, the washer is easily assembled to the introducer by simply being fitted into an annular notch formed just proximal to the distal end of the sealing member.

An Ag-based reflection film consists of a laminate film comprising an Ag or Ag-alloy film provided thereon with a quite thin capping layer. The Ag-based reflection film can be prepared by, for instance, forming, on a substrate, an Ag or Ag-alloy film according to the sputtering technique, while using a sputtering target, for instance, having a composition corresponding to that of the pure Ag film, and Ar gas as a sputtering gas, while adding an additional gas such as O₂, only at the initial stage of the Ag or Ag-alloy film-forming step; and then forming a quite thin capping layer, on the Ag or Ag-alloy film, according to the sputtering technique, while using a sputtering target having a composition corresponding to that of the capping layer, and Ar gas as a sputtering gas, while if necessary adding an additional gas such as O₂. The Ag-based reflection film can maintain a high reflectance without causing any deterioration thereof even under the severe conditions such as those for the hydrogen sulfide-exposure test because of the presence of a quite thin capping layer. The reflection film may be applied to, for instance, those used for display devices and optics-relating ones.

A method for reactivating a solid alkylation catalyst is provided which can be performed within a reactor that contains the alkylation catalyst or outside the reactor. Effective catalyst reactivation is achieved whether the catalyst is completely deactivated or partially deactivated. A fluid reactivating agent is employed to dissolve catalyst fouling agents and also to react with such agents and carry away the reaction products. The method further comprises using, in a feedforward artificial neural network, the clinical documentation data, the socio-demographic data, the answers to remote patient monitoring questionnaires and the vital signs data to compute the patient dynamic risk score indicative of a risk indicative of the adverse event occurring on a given day.
