Inductive transfer methods and structures combine, in a single system, at least two of the three functions of transferring power, communicating data, and sensing position with a vehicle on a guideway. A set of conductors is installed on the guideway to inductively couple a multiplicity of diverse signals with a corresponding set of conductors on the vehicle. The vehicle may be moving or stationary, and signals may be coupled in one or both directions. Coupling is effected without direct electrical contact, through a common region or gap, and the structures provide suitable and precise air gap control for the conductors effecting coupling of each signal. In addition, the windings are arranged with a topology and / or symmetry to cancel crosstalk between different signals.

Implantable biofuel cell system based on nanostructures

A bio-implantable electrochemical cell system for active implantable medical devices. In one embodiment, the fuel cell includes an electrode structure consisting of immobilized anode and cathode enzymes deposited on nanostructured high-surface-area metal nanowires or carbon nanotube electrodes. The anode enzyme comprises immobilized glucose oxidase and the cathode enzyme comprises immobilized laccase. Glucose is oxidized at the surface of the anode and oxygen is reduced at the surface of the cathode. The coupled glucose oxidation-oxygen reduction reactions provide a self-generating current source. In another embodiment, the nanowires or carbon nanotubes, along with the adjacent surface anode and cathode electrodes, are coated with immobilized glucose oxidase and immobilized laccase containing biocolloidal substrates, respectively. This results in the precise construction of an enzyme architecture with control at the molecular level, while increasing the reactive surface area and corresponding output power by at least two orders of magnitude.

Each result set comprises at least one candidate character, and each candidate character has an associated confidence indication. The method can begin by selecting a plurality of character types. For each selected character type, a candidate string can be created by concatenating a candidate character of the selected character type from each result set. The associated confidence indication for each concatenated candidate character can be combined to form a corresponding combined confidence indication for each created candidate string. Point cloud noise and outlier removal for image-based 3D reconstruction

Enhanced removing of noise and outliers from one or more point sets generated by image-based 3D reconstruction techniques is provided. In accordance with the disclosure, input images and corresponding depth maps can be used to remove pixels that are geometrically and / or photometrically inconsistent with the colored surface implied by the input images. This allows standard surface reconstruction methods (such as Poisson surface reconstruction) to perform less smoothing and thus achieve higher quality surfaces with more features. In some implementations, the enhanced point-cloud noise removal in accordance with the disclosure can include computing per-view depth maps, and detecting and removing noisy points and outliers from each per-view point cloud by checking if points are consistent with the surface implied by the other input views.

Method for determining the construction of a mask for the micropatterning of semiconductor substrates by means of photolithography

In the method, which is to be carried out on a computer system, firstly design data of a semiconductor substrate are read in and, on the basis thereof, a mask image is generated in the form of a data structure with contact holes and with auxiliary structures on the computer system. Afterwards, contact hole biases are determined by means of an optical proximity correction method and the relevant contact holes are corrected on the basis of these contact hole biases. By means of subsequent imaging simulation of the mask image on the semiconductor substrate, undesired imaging auxiliary structures and contact holes deviating from specified tolerances on the semiconductor substrate are detected and corrected. During the imaging simulation of the mask image, a mask bias is employed in order to compensate for three-dimensional mask effects. A real mask can be produced on the basis of the mask image thus determined.
