A method for detecting small targets in infrared infrared targets on UAVs based on PGF-RTDETR

This invention discloses a method for detecting small infrared targets on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) based on PGF-RTDETR. First, a UAV infrared image dataset is prepared and preprocessed. Then, an improved UAV infrared small target detection model, PGF-RTDETR, is constructed. This model consists of a lightweight backbone network, a multi-scale sensing neck network, and a decoder. The neck network integrates polarization channel gating units and an adaptive convolutional enhancement module. The preprocessed dataset is input into the PGF-RTDETR model for training, resulting in a best-weighted file. Next, based on the trained weights, the UAV infrared image to be detected is input into the model, which parses and generates the target category and bounding box coordinates. Finally, the detection results are output, and the model performance is evaluated. This invention solves the problems of weak feature extraction capability, large background interference, and high computational cost in existing methods for infrared small target detection, making real-time deployment difficult.
