The invention discloses a method for preparing a magnetic porous material by using diatomite containing organic matters and iron impurities, which is suitable for treating low-grade diatomite containing more organic matters and iron mineral impurities and diatomite
tailings obtained by performing
magnetic separation beneficiation treatment on the diatomite. The method comprises the following steps: firstly, carrying out size grading on diatomite, removing coarse-grained
quartz and fine-grained clay impurities to obtain an
intermediate product mainly composed of
organic matter-containing diatomite shells and iron-containing impurities, and controlling the
organic matter content of the product to be 10-20% (in terms of
weight loss before
roasting); then, through a temperature-controlled and
oxygen-controlled
roasting process, organic matters on the surface of the diatomite are incompletely combusted at a limited temperature to form a
biochar layer, and meanwhile, iron
impurity minerals are converted into
magnetite by using reducing gas generated by
combustion of the organic matters. The method has the advantages of low
raw material cost, no need of additional addition of chemical reagents, no need of pretreatment steps such as
granulation and ball milling, and low
roasting energy consumption. The magnetic adsorption material prepared by the method not only keeps the porous structure of the
diatom shell, but also has the porous
biochar and the magnetic
iron oxide component, has efficient adsorption and purification capacity on harmful cations in water, is easy to recycle through an external
magnetic field, and is environment-friendly and energy-saving. The adsorbent can be widely used in the field of adsorption treatment of related environmental pollutants.
