To solve the above technical problem, the application provides application of a protein or a substance for regulating expression of a gene or a substance for regulating activity or content of the protein in regulation of the resistance of a plant to soybean downy mildew, and the GmTRE protein is a protein with an amino acid sequence shown in sequence 1 in the sequence listing. The application provides use of the GmTRE protein in genetic improvement breeding of soybean disease-resistant germplasm resources, and has a good application prospect.
