There is provided methods and apparatus for improving the accuracy of three-dimensional objects formed by additive manufacturing. By depositing or hardening build material within the interior of the layers in certain patterns, the stresses that lead to curl in the object can be isolated and controlled. Similarly, certain patterns for depositing or hardening the build material provide for reduced layer thicknesses to improve the sidewall quality of the object being formed. The patterns within the interior of the layers can include gaps or voids for particular layers being deposited or hardened, and the gaps or voids can be partially filled, fully filled, or not filled at all when subsequent layers are deposited or hardened. Accordingly, the accuracy of three-dimensional objects formed by additive manufacturing is improved.

The voltage level on the data bus is not permitted to reach the quiescent negated voltage level set by the bus terminator voltage. Additional time is provided for data detection circuitry to detect a first segment of data transferred over the data bus. A pause time is enabled after the data bus has been idle or paused for a prolonged period. After the first segment of data has been transferred, the method returns to normal operation by pausing for a normal period of time for data detection circuitry to detect subsequent segments of data transferred over the data bus. Additionally, during prolonged synchronous data transfers with unchanged data bits, the data bus is inverted and driven for further regulating the data bus voltage.

A method of depositing nanocrystalline diamond film on a substrate at a rate of not less than about 0.2 microns / hour at a substrate temperature less than about 500° C. Coatings of nanocrystalline diamond with average particle diameters of less than about 20 nanometers can be deposited with thermal budgets of 500° C.-4 hours or less onto a variety of substrates such as MEMS devices.
