The mixed multimode amplifier comprises a first division multiplexing device, an erbium-doped amplifying device, a second division multiplexing device and a gain equalization device, wherein the first division multiplexing device multiplexes input signals to different transmission paths according to a specific mode group for transmission; the erbium-doped amplifying device is connected with the first division multiplexing device, and comprises MM-EDFAs and variable optical attenuators, each MM-EDFA and the corresponding variable optical attenuator are mutually connected into one path, and the multiple paths of the MM-EDFAs and the variable optical attenuators are arranged parallelly; the second division multiplexing device is connected with the erbium-doped amplifying device to multiplex multipath signals to onepath; and the gain equalization device is connected with the second division multiplexing device for gain flattening of the signals in the wavelength range. Compared with the prior art, different modegroup signals are correspondingly subjected to gain adjustment by the mixed multimode amplifier, the inter-mode gain is effectively reduced, the amplifying performance of the EDFAs is improved, thenthe signal gain is adjusted within the wavelength range through multimode fiber raman amplifiers (MFRAs), gain flattening is achieved, and the mixed multimode amplifier is convenient, fast and easy tooperate.
