The invention provides a method for returning fruit tree branches to orchards, relating to orchard management technology, in particular to a method for applying trimmed fruit tree branches to the orchards as organic fertilizers. The method comprises the following steps: a. cutting/sawing the trimmed branches with diameters being more than 2cm into shorter branches with length being 15-20cm for later use; b. digging trenches with length being 100-150cm, width being 60cm and depth being about 50cm along water drips of the fruit trees and digging at least two trenches for each tree; and c. putting the branches with diameters being less than 2cm and the shorter branches in the step a into the dug trenches, covering one layer of branches with one layer of soil and covering the last layer of branches with 20-30cm deep soil, wherein the mass of the branches buried in each trench is not beyond 10kg each year. The method has the following beneficial effects: after the branches are returned to the orchards, increase of soil organic matters provides rich nutrients and energy for growth and reproduction of soil microorganisms so that the microorganism quantity is increased; and as the quantity of the microorganisms in the soil is increased, anthropogenic mellowing of soil can be accelerated to convert the slightly soluble nutrients into soluble nutrients.
