Opto-electrical systems having electrical and optical interconnections formed in thin layers are disclosed. In one set of preferred embodiments, optical signals are conveyed between layers by respective vertical optical couplers disposed on the layers. In other preferred embodiments, optical signals are conveyed by stack optical waveguide coupling means. The processor is capable of using at least a portion of the data to identify current conditions or generate one or more predictions regarding conditions to occur in the future that are associated with resources and capacity of the institution. Also, the processor is capable of analyzing results of the predictions and allocating resources of the institution on the basis of the predicted results.

An edge lighting control for a television set. A television set includes a display, an edge lighting bezel surrounding the display, a processor, and a memory component. The edge lighting bezel is operable to output light and its operation is user controllable, e.g., interaction between a GUI and a remote control. The processor controls the operation of the edge lighting bezel, e.g., dimming the output light and its color pattern, in response to user input. The memory component stores instructions and data for controlling the operation of the edge lighting bezel when processed by the processor. The edge lighting bezel may include a ring of light emitting diodes (LEDs) surrounding the display and a light pipe surrounding the ring. The ring is operable to emit light responsive to the user input and the light pipe is operable to transmit light emitted from the ring.

An information handling system's thermal management is selectively altered by coupling a thermal barrier to the bottom surface of the information handling system chassis so that an air channel insulates against the passage of thermal energy from the bottom surface. A vent opening in a side of the thermal barrier allows airflow through the air channel to a vent opening of the information handling system. The airflow through the air channel cools the base of the thermal barrier so that an end user will experience reduced thermal energy if the information handling system rests on the end user, such as in the end user's lap.

The invention discloses a culturing method of one-ridge double-row flue-cured tobacco dislocation, comprising the following steps: (1) selecting tobacco field and preparing soil; (2) ridging; (3) applying base fertilizer; (4) transplanting; and (5) uncovering film, ridging and loading. The method has the following advantages that: (1) on the premise that the use amount of fertilizer for soil in unit area is not changed, the fertilizer use amount of single plant in flue-cured tobacco field is reduced, and the use amount of field organic fertilizer, especially oil cake fertilizer is increased to lead the field tobacco plant to present the growth of middle-plant tobacco, thus obviously improving the tobacco leaf quality; (2) compared with the conventional single ridge, the one-ridge double-row tobacco reduces the labor capability of ridging by about one third, the ridging height is obvious lower than the conventional height, thus reducing ridging labor intensity of tobacco growers; and (3) the one-ridge double-row flue-cured tobacco increases flue-cured tobacco planting density, and meanwhile, a dislocated equal plant distance planting method improves utilization rate of tobacco field to the utmost, ensures the housework operation of tobacco growers, and the row space of the ridge just satisfies growth space of tobacco plants in the field, thus ensuring the income of the tobacco growers.

A hierarchical behavioral framework is used to generate and control autonomous and semi-autonomous behavior in an articulate object. A behavioral controller is arranged to receive input associated with a behavioral action, to infer a plurality of behavioral parameter values using the framework, and to generate equivalent behavior in the articulate object using the parameter values when loaded in the behavioral controller to generate output corresponding to the equivalent behavior. Systems, devices and methods to improve safety and efficiency in an operating room comprise providing a suture package that holds new suture needles and needle receptacles for storing used needles. The devices can be safely worn for the surgeon to self-dispense new suture needles in the near surgical field and to secure the used needles into a needle trap or a needle retainer located on his extremity, on his operative instruments or on the surgical drapes. The device may provide automated and/or simplified needle counting both during use and after removal from the surgical field. The device may be configured for ergonomic and efficient use so as to minimize the actions and motions of the surgeon to dispense and secure the needle.

The invention relates to a portable water ride having a trailer with a water catch basin built therein, wherein at least two pivoting supports are provided which can be deployed to an expanded position and stowed to a vertical position.
