A composition for treating dentin hypersensitivity, comprising: a first component comprising: (i) a first rheology modifying polymer; (ii) a calcium ion source; (iii) a positively charged basic amino acid; and (iv) an acidifying agent, wherein the first component has a pH in the range of about 2.0 to about 7.0; a second component comprising: (i) a second rheology modifying polymer; (ii) a phosphate ion source; and (iii) an alkalizing agent, wherein the second component has a pH in the range of about 7.0 to about 14.0; wherein the first component and the second component are combined into a mixture such that a cationic amorphous calcium phosphate gel composition is created instantly when the pH of the mixture reaches a pH range of about 7.0 to about 9.5.
