A flue-gas-desulfurization-type integrated coal gasification combined cycle plant includes a gasifier configured to convert pulverized coal to a gas fuel; an heat recovery steam generator configured to generate steam; a gas turbine which is operated by the gas fuel and which supplies a combustion exhaust gas to the heat recovery steam generator; a steam turbine which is operated by the steam generated by the heat recovery steam generator; a power generator connected to at least one of the gas turbine and the steam turbine; and a desulfurization equipment configured to desulfurize the combustion exhaust gas discharged from the heat recovery steam generator, the desulfurized combustion exhaust gas being exhausted into the atmosphere, wherein the heat recovery steam generator includes an acid-resistant feedwater heater which preheats boiler feedwater and which is provided at the downstream side of a main heat exchanger.

A novel aerial boom system for use atop a vehicle and having linear movement sensors associated with hydraulic cylinders for moving lower and upper booms such that a microprocessor associated with the system can determine the instantaneous position of each boom and coordinate movement of the booms with respect to each other and with the vehicle to prevent undesired contact and to gradually decelerate boom movement as the boom approaches its limits to avoid shock from sudden stop of boom movement. When the novel system is used with a fire fighting vehicle, two variably spaced, independently controllable, fluid discharge nozzles can be used to fight one or two separate and distinct fires simultaneously. A piercing nozzle can be associated with the outer end of the upper boom that is independently controllable in both the vertical plane and in the horizontal direction to enable piercing of a wall independent of boom movement to assist penetration.

An electrochemical device comprising the same electrolyte is also disclosed. The metal oxide salt used in the electrolyte is dissolved in a non-aqueous solvent and generates oxyanions capable of improving corrosion resistance of metals. Therefore. the electrolyte prevents corrosion of metallic materials present in an electrochemical device, caused by extreme conditions, such as overcharge, overdischarge and high-temperature storage conditions, to which the device is exposed. Further, the electrolyte prevents degradation in the quality of an electrochemical device, caused by corrosion of metallic materials.

Pneumatically powered foam sprayer

A pneumatically powered foam sprayer is provided. The foam sprayer includes a spray hose having a spray nozzle, a trigger assembly proximate the spray nozzle, and a pressure-actuated valve responsive to the trigger assembly. An air conduit extends between the pressure-actuated valve and an opening in the trigger assembly. Obstructing the opening with a hand, a finger or a thumb creates a change of air pressure within the air conduit and actuates the pressure-actuated valve to selectively allow the supply of foam into the spray hose. The air conduit may extends longitudinally through an interior portion of the spray hose, or along an exterior portion of the spray hose, and can include a laminar, chemical-resistant outer surface. An internal pump is powered by compressed air through the pressure-actuated valve, and the spray nozzle remains open both during and between uses to prevent the accumulation of pressurized foam within the spray hose.

High efficiency brake for agricultural drive systems

A high efficiency drivetrain for an agricultural irrigation system is described. The drivetrain includes a ball ramp brake to inhibit movement of a wheel tower when the drive gear motor is not engaged. In one embodiment, the ball ramp brake is a bidirectional ball ramp brake disposed between the drive gear motor and the gearbox of the drivetrain. Utilizing a ball ramp brake such as this, the gearbox can incorporate much more highly efficient gearing mechanisms, such as for example only, involute gears, beveled gears, hypoid gears, planetary gears or the like. The ball ramp brake is enclosed and includes an oil bath that functions to lubricate the components of the brake, preventing corrosion and dissipating heat.

Heat from solar or nuclear heat sources is applied to provide at least a portion of the heat used in a cyclic petroleum refining process in which a hydrocarbon feedstream is contacted with a solid particulate contact material in a first step to treat the feedstream after which the solid contact material is separated or disengaged from the treated feedstream and regenerated in a separate regeneration zone before being returned to the first step for contact with additional feedstream. The method, apparatus and product relate to the electrochemical reduction of a solid feedstock (20) to produce a product. A container (2) is filled with a fused salt (6), and one or more anodes (14) contact the fused salt.
