Method and apparatus for allowing a personal computer to control one or more devices

A system is provided to allow a computer to control one or more devices using the remote control codes that are normally used by remote control units associated with these devices. The system has one or more remote control units for transmitting commands, one or more devices to be controlled, and a computer. The computer is coupled to an input device, and has a memory, a receiver which receives codes from the remote control units, and a knowledge base for storing the codes received from the remote control units and command identifiers provided from the input device. The knowledge base associates each command identifier with a particular code. The computer also includes a transmitter which transmits codes to the device to be controlled based on selected command identifiers. During configuration, the computer executes a program that prompts the user to enter a command identifier and code to be associated with that command identifier. The received code and its associated command identifier are stored in the knowledge base. During operation, a user enters a command identifier, and the program searches the knowledge base for the command identifier so as to locate the code corresponding to the command identifier. The program then transmits the code to the device to be controlled.

Method and apparatus for two-way communications amongst a plurality of communications devices

In a security system, a method and apparatus for two-way frequency hopping communications between the control panel and each peripheral device which maintains channel synchronization through the assignment of fixed beacon frequencies for the transmission of synchronizing data. The use of frequency hopping provides high immunity to jamming and interference, reduced occurrence of multi-path phenomena, and allows for transmissions at a much higher output power than conventional fixed-frequency communications, to thus increase the effective range of the peripheral devices while providing effective and reliable two-way communications between the control panel and the peripheral devices. The invention also provides a large number of channels, which allows for actuators such as sirens, strobes and line seizing devices to be wireless in addition to sensors. The invention provides a high immunity to signal jamming, interference from other wireless systems and miss-detection due to multi-path phenomena; reduces opportunities for collision between peripheral transmissions; and eliminates the redundant emission of peripheral transmissions to reduce RF traffic in the vicinity of the system and extend the life of batteries used in the peripheral devices.

Curved surface projection method and device of multi-camera panorama system

The invention discloses a curved surface projection method of a multi-camera panorama system. The method comprises the following steps: obtaining a distortion image of a wide-angled camera; carrying out distortion adjusting to the distortion image and generating a distortionless image; and projecting the distortionless image to a three-dimensional surface and generating a panoramic image. According to the curved surface projection method of the multi-camera panorama system, the distortionless image is firstly obtained through distortion adjusting, and then a three-dimensional surface model is built, and moreover, coordinate transformation is unified according to the coordinate value Zc of Z-axis of the three-dimensional surface model. Finally, the distortionless image is projected to the three-dimensional curved surface model, and panoramic imaging on the surface is achieved. Compared with the prior panoramic imaging technique, the curved surface projection method of the multi-camera panorama system has the advantages that scene has a third dimension sense and is relatively real when the scene is looked; effective range displayed is greatly enlarged; and shape and outline of an three-dimensional object can be figured out when the object is projected to the curved surface, and problem of vagueness when the three-dimensional object is projected to the flat surface is effectively solved.

Temperature-responsive mixing valve

A temperature-actuated mixing valve for controlling outlet temperature in a fluid flow system including a valve housing having first and second fluid supply inlets for introducing first and second respective supply fluids and a fluid outlet for dispensing a fluid at a predetermined outflow temperature. The mixing valve includes a shuttle assembly positioned in the housing. The shuttle assembly includes a valve member mounted for movement within the housing responsive to the temperature of the supply fluids to vary the mixture ratio of the first and second supply fluids as required to dispense fluid at the predetermined outflow temperature. A shuttle member is positioned within the valve member and is moveable as a unit therewith within a predetermined range of motion responsive to supply fluid temperature variation. A thermal actuator is provided of the type which converts thermal energy into mechanical movement by movement of a piston. A first end of the thermal element engages the movable shuttle member and an opposing second end engages a stationary portion of the housing whereby movement of the piston of the thermal actuator produces corresponding movement of the valve member. An overtravel spring is captured in a tensioned condition between the valve member and the shuttle member for maintaining the shuttle member and the valve member in a stationary condition relative to each other within the predetermined range of motion of the valve member and for permitting movement of the shuttle member relative to the valve member sufficient to accommodate movement of the piston of the thermal actuator when the valve member has reached its limit of travel without accommodating the full extent of movement of the piston of the thermal actuator.

Noise reduction method of multi-channel active noise reduction headrest

The invention discloses a noise reduction method of a multi-channel active noise reduction headrest. Auricle space position information is obtained through an acquisition and calculation module; a point coordinate on the auricle is selected as a space coordinate of the virtual error microphone; time delay values from the secondary sound source and the physical microphone to the virtual error microphone are calculated through the physical microphone and the secondary sound source with known space coordinates, and a physical secondary path transfer function matrix Gpu from the secondary sound source to the physical microphone is obtained in an off-line modeling mode; a self-adaptive controller performs calculation to obtain a virtual error signal ev according to the reference signal, the physical error signal, the transfer function matrixes Gvu, M and Gpu and the intensity u(n) of the secondary sound source, performs calculation according to the reference signal and the virtual error signal to generate a noise elimination signal, and transmits the noise elimination signal to the secondary sound source; and the secondary sound source receives the noise elimination signal transmitted by the adaptive controller and makes a sound to counteract and reduce the original noise, so that the square of the sound pressure amplitude at the virtual error microphone is minimum.
