195 results about "Effective radius" patented technology

The effective radius or half-light radius (Rₑ) of a galaxy is the radius at which half of the total light of the system is emitted. This assumes the galaxy has either intrinsic spherical symmetry or is at least circularly symmetric as viewed in the plane of the sky. Alternatively, a half-light contour, or isophote, may be used for spherically and circularly asymmetric objects. Rₑ is an important length scale in de Vaucouleurs ∜(R) law, which characterizes a specific rate at which surface brightness decreases as a function of radius: I(R)=Iₑ·e⁻⁷·⁶⁷⁽∜⁽ᴿ/ᴿₑ⁾⁻¹⁾ where Iₑ is the surface brightness at R=Rₑ.

Method for effective placement of on-chip decoupling capacitors determined by maximum effective radii

InactiveUS7802220B1Reducing and distributing localized current demandComputer aided designSoftware simulation/interpretation/emulationCapacitanceCurrent load
The maximum effective radii of an on-chip decoupling capacitor based on a target impedance (discharge) and charge time are determined. To be effective, an on-chip decoupling capacitor should be placed such that both the power supply and the current load are located inside the appropriate effective radius. If this allocation is not feasible, the current load is partitioned into several circuit blocks, reducing and distributing the localized current demands. The on-chip decoupling capacitors are allocated to each block while satisfying both effective radii criteria.

Control apparatus and control method for electrically driven vehicle

Even when the effective radii of wheels differ from each other because of a change in tire pneumatic pressure, the difference in driving force between left and right drive wheels are substantially zeroed to suppress a turning force to thereby increase the traveling stability. The use is made of a corrector for correcting a command value to be outputted to a drive circuit for an electric drive motor for each of the drive wheels. This corrector receives the steering angle, the respective numbers of revolutions of the drive wheels and an electric drive motor current and corrects with the use of the steering angle as measured with respect to a traveling direction so that command values relative to the drive wheels may have such a relation that the turning force induced in a vehicle as a result of the difference in effective radius between the drive wheels can be suppressed.
