Swing position recognition and reinforcement

InactiveUS20060247070A1Accurately predict the flight path of the ballFocused and systematic approachGymnastic exercisingBall sportsImaging analysisComputer vision
A method and device is used to teach and simulate swing mechanics. A camera is coupled to a computer such that frames including an image of a golfer swinging a golf club may be captured. A key part of the image is identified by the computer in sequential frames captured from the camera, and the image is compared to swing mechanics of a known standard golfer. The position of the known standard golfer is capable of following the natural swing of a student golfer, and the method and device are capable of providing real-time feedback to the student golfer during the golfer's swing. An instant replay may be used to reinforce good swing mechanics. A marker attachment may be used to assist in tracking and analyzing the swing mechanics of the images. Parameters relating to club angle and apparent club length may be compared to a known standard for a plurality of reference swing positions in order to determine the swing mechanics of the student golfer during practice instruction and within a golf simulation game to determine ball trajectory. A ball launch monitor may be integrated with the image analysis, which improves the effectiveness of the method and device synergistically.

Device for and method of rapid noninvasive measurement of parameters of diastolic function of left ventricle and automated evaluation of the measured profile of left ventricular function at rest and with exercise

In a method of noninvasive measurement of parameters of diastolic function of left ventricle and automated evaluation of the measured profile at rest and with exercise, a patient performs an isometric exercise. An external pressure sensor and heart sounds microphone are applied in a non-invasive manner on the thoracic wall to obtain a left ventricular pressure mirroring curve (pressocardiogram) and simultaneously the heart sounds (phonocardiogram). An external unit determines and calculates characteristic diastolic parameters derived from the pressocardiographic curve and phonocardiogram at rest, during and after exercise, converts each said pressocardiogram into a digital waveform in the time domain, and automatically categorizes the mentioned characteristic parameters based on exact categorization criteria for defining several differentialforms of diastolic dysfunction of left ventricle in human beings.

System and method for training human subjects to improve off-axis neuromuscular control of the lower limbs

InactiveUS20100145233A1Improve neuromuscular controlEffective trainingPerson identificationSensorsNeuromuscular controlRisk factor
Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured knee ligament in sports-related activities, especially in pivoting sports. Considering that the knee is free to flex / extend but has much more limited motions about the off-axis (tibia rotation and valgus / varus), ACL injuries are often associated with excessive off-axis loadings. A pivoting / sliding mechanism combined with sagittal plane movement / exercise is described as a diagnostic tool to evaluate off-axis neuromechanical and anatomical risk factors of noncontact ACL injuries. The pivoting / sliding mechanism is also described as an intervention tool for off-axis training, possibly based on the diagnosis, to reduce the incidence of ACL injuries. Training outcome can also be evaluated using the pivoting / sliding mechanism. In general, the pivoting / sliding mechanism can be used with many sagittal plane exercise machines and used to improve off-axis control of the lower limbs and reduce lower limb injuries.

Absorptive heat pump systems and heating method

The present invention relates to an absorptive heat pump circulation systems and heating method. According to the present invention, an absorption heat pump circulation system comprises: a generator, equipped with a heat exchanger; an evaporator, equipped with a driving heat source; an absorber, equipped with a heat exchanger; and an absorbent crystallizer. An absorption solution entrance of the crystallizer is connected to an absorption solution exit of the absorber and a crystallized absorption solution exit of the crystallizer is connected to an absorption solution entrance of the generator, and a crystal output of the crystallizer is connected to an absorption solution Entrance of the absorber; The heat exchanger of the generator and the heat exchanger of the absorber are connected to form a thermal cycling loop, which transfers the absorption heat generated by the absorber to the generator. Since the absorbent crystallizer is provided, and the heat generated by the absorber is provided to the generator directly through the thermal cycling loop, then the external driving heat source required by the generator in the traditional absorption heating circulation system is essentially saved, so that the coefficient of performance is significantly improved. The present invention extensively applies to the utilization of excess heat at a low temperature as well as energy-saving and emission-reducing in the fields such as chemical industry, food industry, sewage treatment, sea water desalination and so on.

Sensible Thermal Energy Storage (STES) Systems

Two sensible thermal energy storage (STES) systems in multiple chambers containing molten eutectic salts have been devised for use at temperatures above 565° C. For the first type, the thermal energy of low specific heat of an immiscible gaseous heat transfer fluid (HTF) at temperatures above 900° C. is readily converted to dispatchable heat of high specific heat in the molten eutectic salt liquid layers operating at high temperatures, which can again produce a gaseous HTF at a constant temperature of 700° C. or higher for the lower electricity generation capacities. For the second type, the molten eutectic salt liquids are used as a thermal energy storage (TES) medium and also a HTF at temperatures above 700° C. for the higher electricity generation capacities. These STES systems provide an effective cushion against the disturbances of heat supply from the sun.

Method for control of electrochromic device

A method for control of electrochromic devices is revealed. First a duty cycle of PWM is changed to a preset Q value according to a signal detected by a detector while the electrochromic device is switched to the colored state. The Q value represents electric charge that corresponds to colored-state transmittance. Then turn off the PWM. Thus the response time for coloration and the transmittance of the electrochromic device are maintained within a preset range, without being affected by ambient temperature, setting time and aging of the materials used. Thus the electrochromic device is more convenient to use and having more practical value.
