This invention discloses a test specimen and design method that considers the influence of curvature on the performance of
composite laminates. The test specimen includes a specimen body and several reinforcing plates; the cross-sections of the upper and lower surfaces of the specimen body are curved surfaces. The design method first determines the curvature parameters of the specimen based on the
radius of curvature and layup form of the target structure; then, in combination with different
mechanical property testing requirements, the geometric dimensions of the specimen for flat plate structures in the
ASTM standard are mapped to a specimen with curvature, and the
effective length, width, and cross-sectional parameters are adjusted accordingly based on the loading direction; and the curvature of auxiliary structures such as reinforcing plates is modified to match the curvature characteristics of the specimen body, thereby ensuring that the loading state is consistent with the standard specifications. By designing a loading fixture that matches the curvature of the specimen, the mechanical properties of the material under various curvature structures such as tension and compression can be obtained.
