A gate of the power transistor is driven by an input through a large resistor. When the boost pulse is activated, the boost switch closes, connecting the small resistor in parallel with the large resistor, thereby reducing the effective gate resistance during the boost pulse. The boost controller generates zero, one or two boost pulses for each input edge. For a rising edge when the transistor is conducted, when the steady-state current is lower than a threshold value, the enhancement controller does not generate an enhancement pulse; otherwise, an enhanced pulse is generated for each edge. The first oscillation peak is compared to a first range and the enhancement pulse width is adjusted until the peak is within the first range. When the oscillation speed is slower than the propagation delay, two enhanced pulses are generated for each input edge and the delay between the two pulses is adjusted until the second oscillation peak is within a second range.
