Optical system design method based on combination of TIR and micro-lens array

The invention provides an LED high-uniformity and high-efficiency optical system design method based on combination of a TIR and a micro lens array. The micro-lens array not only has the optical performance of a traditional lens, but also has many special optical performances, and is widely applied to LED light sources in recent years. However, most research pays attention to the manufacturing process, and a complete mathematical model for designing and establishing a free-form surface is lacked. Therefore, a set of complete free-form surface micro-lens mathematical model is established according to the TIR characteristics and the refraction law. And a group of differential equations are solved through numerical values to obtain the contour of the free-form surface micro lens. And finally,the micro-lens array is simulated by using ray tracing software Trace Pro under the conditions of a near field and a far field respectively, and the influence of the characteristics of the micro-lensarray on the illumination performance is discusssed. Results show that the smaller the radius of the micro lens is, the better the illumination effect is, the uniformity and efficiency of the micro lens can reach over 90%, and the prospect of the micro lens array in practical application can be effectively broadened.

The invention provides a design method of a diffuse transmission free form curved surface based on a collimating lens array. A traditional diffusion sheet used for LED array illumination is not structurally designed, and only a simple plane or semispherical surface is adopted. Due to the fact that the diffusion sheet scatters light from all directions, the efficiency of a lighting system applyingthe diffusion sheet is lower than that of other designs. Based on the problems, according to the light-emitting characteristics of an LED, the collimating lens array is used for correcting wide-viewing-angle light emission of the LED array, and then a mathematical model of a diffuse transmission free-form curved surface is established according to a light path by applying a bidirectional transmission distribution function (BTDF) of a high-transmittance surface. Due to the complexity of the light path, a method of presetting a collimation plane is provided to simplify the calculation. The nonlinear algebraic equation is derived from the light reaching the preset collimation plane and the light leaving the preset collimation plane, the equations are numerically solved to obtain the profile of the diffuse transmission free form curved surface, and then the profile is imported into ray tracing software TracePro for simulation.
