A destination image is received ( 100 ), the destination image including an image portion to be replaced and having characteristics associated with the identified image portion. A source image is also received ( 130 ). An image portion of the source image to be inserted into the destination image is identified ( 140 ). Where necessary, parameters of the image portion to be inserted are transformed to match those of the image portion to be replaced ( 150 ). An improved method of controlling air pollution, a combustion gas is passed through a solution of an alkaline-earth metal sulfide and a redox buffer (e.g., a mono alkaline-earth metal phosphate salt), preferably but not essentially in combination with an alkaline-earth metal carbonate FGD system. A novel electrokinetic instability (EKI) micromixer and method takes advantage of the EKI to effect active rapid stirring of confluent microstreams of biomolecules without moving parts or complex microfabrication processes. The EKI is induced using an alternating current (A/C) electric field. Within seconds, the randomly fluctuating, three-dimensional velocity field created by the EKI rapidly and effectively stirs an initially heterogeneous solution and generates a homogeneous solution that is useful in a variety of biochemical and bioanalytical systems. The gravel particulate matters formed after the shield tunneling residue soil is processed can be used as a concrete aggregate, so that the waste is recycled, and the economic value is increased; the mud blocks with low sand content and moisture content can be used as a brick-making material, so that a made brick is good in quality; and the muddy water can be reused after being treated. Self-heating systems for rapidly and effectively heating a comestible substance are disclosed. Self-heating systems generally include a reaction chamber and a heating chamber. The heating chamber contains a substance to be heated. The reaction chamber contains reactants that, when contacted, exothermically react. The containers and reactants can be configured to heat at least six fluid ounces of comestible substance in less than one minute. The solid chemical reactant mixture can comprise magnesium chloride, calcium chloride, and/or calcium oxide. Methods for heating at least six fluid ounces of comestible substance in less than one minute are also provided.

The present invention relates to a method of making mineral fibres, comprising providing a circulating combustion chamber (1) which comprises a top section (2), a bottom section (3) and a base section (4), injecting primary fuel, particulate mineral material and primary combustion gas into the top section of the circulating combustion chamber and combusting the primary fuel thereby melting the particulate material to form a mineral melt and generating exhaust gases, separating the mineral melt from the exhaust gases wherein the exhaust gases pass through an outlet (8) in the circulating combustion chamber and the mineral melt collects in the base section of the circulating combustion chamber, injecting secondary fuel, which comprises liquid or gaseous fuel, and secondary combustion gas into the bottom section of the circulating combustion chamber to form a flame in the bottom section which heats the melt, and flowing a stream of the collected melt through an outlet (15) in the base section to a centrifugal fiberising apparatus and forming fibres. The present invention also provides an apparatus for use in the method of the invention.

A method for preparing the first component of a two-component room temperature-vulcanizable (RTV) silicone composition comprises (a) preparing a filler/oil masterbatch by (i) adding an unreactive silicone oil and untreated, aggregated filler particles to a mixer; (ii) adding a filler treating agent such as an organosilane, a polyorganosilane or a silazane to the unreactive silicone oil/filler mixture; and (iii) mixing the unreactive silicone oil/filler mixture and treating agent under conditions sufficient to breakdown the aggregated filler particles to an average size of less than about 300 nm for a time of less than about 24 hours to form the filler/oil masterbatch; and (b) adding said filler/oil masterbatch to a reactive silicone oil.
