Systems and methods for wireless power transfer are disclosed. Primary windings generate magnetic fields which are inductively coupled to secondary windings to transfer power in a wireless manner. One embodiment includes a plurality of tiles of magnetic cores and windings for the primary windings. The tiles can be arranged in a magnetic segment with windings of tiles being orthogonal with respect to windings of adjacent tiles. For example, a winding of a first tile can be horizontal, and windings of adjacent tiles can be vertical. One embodiment further groups these magnetic segments into larger entities, wherein each magnetic segment can be independently activated. One embodiment includes a magnetic amplifier or an electronic device for secondary side control of power. This permits multiple devices to be powered or charged to be able to regulate power or charging independently from one another.

A method and apparatus for magnetically levitating and further steering of an intraluminal device, such as a swallowable microelectronic capsule, for monitoring bodily functions is provided. Active CMOS biosensor chip for fluorescent-based detection

An active CMOS biosensor chip for fluorescent-based detection is provided that enables time-gated, time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. In one embodiment, analytes are loaded with fluorophores that are bound to probe molecules immobilized on the surface of the chip. Photodiodes and other circuitry in the chip are used to measure the fluorescent intensity of the fluorophore at different times. These measurements are then averaged to generate a representation of the transient fluorescent decay response unique to the fluorophores. In addition to its low-cost, compact form, the biosensor chip provides capabilities beyond those of macroscopic instrumentation by enabling time-gated operation for background rejection, easing requirements on optical filters, and by characterizing fluorescence lifetime, allowing for a more detailed characterization of fluorophore labels and their environment. The biosensor chip can be used for a variety of applications including biological, medical, in-the-field applications, and fluorescent lifetime imaging applications.

A record handler retrieves a checkpoint log record from a storage device. A structuring module parses the checkpoint log record into log entries. A comparison module applies the query expression to each log entry. This application of the query expression may include applying the query expression to a particular portion of the log entry specified by an offset. The output module generates a condensed checkpoint log record including log entries that satisfy the query expression.

The present invention relates to an analog transmitter using an external cavity laser (ECL) in which specific characteristics of the ECL are enhanced and exploited to improve 2nd and 3rd order distortion while increasing the threshold for the occurrence of deleterious stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS). The performance of the ECL shows a substantial reduction in distortion occurring over certain narrow ranges of operating temperatures. Optical, electronic, thermal and / or mechanical methods are described that cause this “distortion dip” to be moved to, or created at, stable regions of ECL operation, away from mode hops. Methods are also described that allow the distortion dip to be moved to, or created at, ECL operating regions in which sufficiently high chirp occurs, thereby reducing SBS. Multiple cooperative relays operate in a highly mobile environment and form a virtual antenna array. Multiple independent streams of data can be simultaneously transmitted in parallel to the destination receiver. Thus a higher spatial multiplexing gain can be obtained. Such exemplary embodiments might do so by allowing each relay to transmit a linear combination of antenna waveforms according to an independently and randomly generated coefficient vector. This randomized cooperation scheme may be useful in an environment in which a group of relay devices are close to the source device, and can therefore receive information at a high rate. Each relay device that receives the information without errors splits it into multiple streams. For example, if the relay devices receive B symbols and the number of streams is K, each stream contains B / K symbols. Each relay device then generates a random linear combination of all the streams and transmits this output simultaneously with the other relay devices.

A first reservoir is in fluidic connection with the nanopore, the first reservoir being configured to provide, to the nanopore, nucleic acid molecules in an electrolytic solution. A second reservoir is in fluidic connection with the nanopore, with the nanopore membrane separating the first and second reservoirs. A pressure source is connected to the first reservoir to apply an external pressure to the first reservoir to cause nanopore translocation of nucleic acid molecules in the solution in the first reservoir. A voltage source is connected between the second and first reservoirs, across the nanopore, with a voltage bias polarity that applies an electric field counter to the externally applied pressure. Force of the externally applied pressure is greater than force of the electric field during nanopore translocation by the nucleic acid molecules.

The invention overcomes the effects of indexes of working efficiency, establishing time, integrating accuracy, power consumption, and the like on the switch-capacitor integrator by technical deviation through the bulk potential modulation effect of a bulk potential modulator in the novel C-class inverters and greatly improves the stability and the robustness of the integrator without obviously increasing the power consumption.

The method comprising the steps of determining a first luminous flux weight ratio based on the desired color and a first drive current for driving each of the differently colored LEDs, determining a first luminous flux for each of the differently colored LEDs based on the desired brightness and the first luminous flux weight ratio, comparing, for each of the differently colored LEDs, the first luminous flux with a nominal luminous flux for a plurality of different drive currents, selecting, for each of the differently colored LEDs, a preferred drive current that at least can produce the first luminous flux, determining a second luminous flux weight ratio based on the desired color and the selected drive currents for each of the differently colored LEDs, determining a second luminous flux for each of the differently colored LEDs based on the desired brightness and the second luminous flux weight ratio, and determining a duty cycle for each of the differently colored LEDs at the selected drive currents, wherein the selected currents at the determined duty cycles produces the second luminous flux for each of the differently colored LEDs. The present invention provides for the possibility to limit the number of necessary computational steps for determining preferred drive currents. Furthermore, an increase in number of current level and / or differently colored LEDs would only slightly increase the computational cost.

The casting method comprises the following steps: embedding a conformal cold iron into the hot joint of the casting piece at the corresponding position of a core box, then carrying out sand shooting and manufacturing a sand core with the conformal cold iron; and placing the sand core with the conformal cold iron into a casting mold, combining a dead head feeding technique and casting the casting piece. The shape of the conformal cold iron is manufactured into a vortex shape or an arc shape according to the shapes of a vortex sand core teeth and the position of the hot joint of the vortex casting piece. One end of the conformal cold iron is provided with a columnar positioning lag; and the core box is provided with a positioning hole matched with the positioning lag. The sand core is internally provided with the conformal cold iron which is directly applied on the hot joint, thus having fast cooling speed and leading the hot joint position to obtain maximum subcooled temperature in the vortex casting piece. The casting method can effectively solve the defects of loosing and shrinkage of the root part of the vortex teeth.
