Method for driving an ultrasonic system to improve acquisition of blade resonance frequency at startup

The ability of an ultrasonic system to sweep and lock onto a resonance frequency of a blade subjected to a heavy load at startup is improved by applying a high drive voltage or a high drive current while systematically increasing the level of the applied signal. Increasing the drive signal to the hand piece results in an improved and more pronounced “impedance spectrum.” That is, under load, the increased drive signal causes the maximum phase margin to become higher and the minimum / maximum impedance magnitude to become more pronounced. Increasing the excitation drive signal to the hand piece / blade at startup significantly alleviates the limiting factors associated with ultrasonic generators, which results in an increase of the maximum load capability at startup.

Radio Resource Allocation for Cellular Wireless Networks

Embodiments of the invention relate to cellular wireless networks and are particularly suited to networks including different types of base stations. So-called femtocell types of base stations are typically deployed within a subscriber's premises and operate at low transmit power, providing a very limited area of wireless coverage. A femtocell is typically deployed within the area of wireless coverage of a conventional macrocell, occupying the same frequency spectrum and timeslots as the macrocell. A problem can be presented to a user equipment terminal that is close to the femtocell but unable to gain access to it, because the transmissions from the femtocell may appear as interference to the user equipment terminal, preventing it from accessing the macrocell which it could otherwise access. A cellular wireless network according to an embodiment of the invention employs a method of allocating radio resource to femtocells so that the transmissions from femtocells do not occupy the same radio resource blocks as those used by the macrocell for signalling; embodiments of the invention thereby prevent interference associated with signalling to cause a connection to be lost, or prevent a connection being set up.

Control protocol encapsulation

Some bus protocols are useful for management of peripheral devices that exist on a computer's system bus. Such bus protocols include the industry standard architecture bus (ISA), peripheral component interconnect (PCI), PCI express (PCIe), etc. The usefulness of such protocols for control messages, interrupt management and more is limited to the short distances over which the protocols operate, usually measured in inches. The use of longer distance transport protocols, such as Ethernet to encapsulate and transport bus protocol messages allows the advantages of the short distant protocols to be used to control remote devices. A master device, with a controller or processor, may be used to manage the operation of a slave device using the bus or control protocol. Such management may include button presses, indicator lights, slave device configuration, etc. The slave device may have a low cost controller or ASIC to provide real-time operational functions, such as routing.

Low-voltage IC test for defect screening

System and method using low voltage current measurements to measure voltage network currents in an integrated circuit (IC). In one aspect, a low voltage current leakage test is applied voltage networks for the IC or microchip via one or more IC chip connectors. One or multiple specifications are developed based on chip's circuit delay wherein a chip is aborted or sorted into a lesser reliability sort depending whether the chip fails specification. Alternately, a low voltage current leakage test begins an integrated circuit test flow. Then there is run a high voltage stress, and a second low voltage current leakage test is thereafter added. Then, there is compared the second low voltage test to the first low V test, and if the measured current is less on second test, this is indicative of a defect present which may result in either a scrap or downgrade reliability of chip.
