The invention discloses a water-based fire extinguishing agent which comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 1%-3% of butyl ether, 1%-3% of polyethylene glycol, 2%-5% of cocamidopropyl betaine, 2%-4% of a foaming agent, 2%-5% of urea, 2%-5% of sodium chloride, 3%-6% of alkyl glycoside, 1%-2% of a cationic surfactant and the balance of water. Compared with a traditional water-based fire extinguishing agent, different formulas and processes are adopted, and the prepared water-based fire extinguishing agent is excellent in fire extinguishing performance and does not pollute theenvironment after fire extinguishing.
