Dietary and natural product management of negative side effects of cancer treatment

ActiveUS11020372B2Protect a patient's normal cells, tissuesProtects patientKetone active ingredientsEster active ingredientsTolerabilitySulforaphane
The invention relates to novel methods and compositions for safely reducing negative side effects of cancer treatments. These methods and compositions comprise administering to a patient a composition comprising one or more of the following: curcumin (derived from turmeric), epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG, enriched in green tea), glucosinolates (enriched in cruciferous vegetables) and / or derivatives thereof, such as sulforaphane (SFN), alone or combined with a ketogenic diet or a modified ketogenic diet. Also the current invention relates to a composition comprising medium chain triglycerides (MCT), Epigallocatechin-3-gallate, curcumin, compositions comprising glucosinolates and / or derivatives thereof, such as sulforaphane (SFN). The invention provides that administering a composition comprising curcumin, EGCG, sulforaphane, alone or combined with a ketogenic diet or a modified ketogenic diet (low carbohydrate diet) alone or supplemented with MCT improves resistance of normal cells to cytotoxicity of cancer treatments, in turn, reducing their negative side effects. Increasing normal cells, tissues or organs' resistance to chemotherapeutic agents, the invention improves patients' tolerance to anti-cancer treatments' toxicity, which, in turn, contributes to enhance their efficacy, leading to increased survival of the subject treated with the current invention.

Artificially-synthesized feed for athetis dissimilis hampson and preparation method of artificially-synthesized feed

The invention discloses artificially-synthesized feed added with vegetable ingredients for athetis dissimilis hampson and a feeding method of the artificially-synthesized feed, and belongs to the insect feeding technology. The feed is formed in the way that wheat bran and malt flour are used as main ingredients, and other auxiliary materials such as soybean flour, corn flour and peptone are added. The feed of a certain proportion is used for feeding the athetis dissimilis hampson, and brassicaceous vegetables are added in the feeding process so as to supplement nutrition. The average pupa weight of the athetis dissimilis hampson reaches 87.68 mg, the average survival rate of larvae is 93.8%, the percentage of pupation is 95.8%, the eclosion rate is 100%, and the average number of single-female oviposition is 763.95. Compared with natural feed (maize seedlings), the survival rate of the larvae, the pupa weight and the average oviposition quantity of the athetis dissimilis hampson on the aspect of artificial feed are improved obviously, the developmental duration of the larvae and the pupa duration are shortened remarkably, and no significant difference exists on the index aspects of the percentage of pupation, the eclosion rate, the oviposition earlier-stage condition and the like. Moreover, the feed cannot be affected by seasons, and the feed cannot contain residual components such as pesticide, either.

Method for indoor quick amplification propagation of cruciferous vegetable lepidoptera pest parasitic wasps

The invention relates to a method for indoor quick amplification propagation of cruciferous vegetable lepidoptera pest parasitic wasps. The method includes the following steps: (1) acquiring parasiticwasp cocoons from a field; (2) performing verification on parasitic wasps for use after the parasitic wasps are hatched out from the acquired parasitic wasp cocoons; (3) planting radish seedlings inplanting pots in the condition of plant growth light sources; (4) performing indoor propagation on Plutella xylostella by using a suspension method; (5) allowing the acquired parasitic wasps from thestep (2) to perform mating; (6) selecting and putting the 2th-3th-age-group Plutella xylostella acquired from the step (4) in parasitic cups, and leading the parasitic wasps acquired from the step (5)to the parasitic cups to perform parasitism; (7) collecting parasitic wasp cocoons acquired from the parasitic cups, and cleaning the parasitic cups; and (8) repeating the above steps (2)-(7), and performing successive propagation on the Plutella xylostella and the parasitic wasps. The method is easy to operate, is efficient and convenient, is low in cost, can achieve indoor quick amplification propagation of the cruciferous vegetable lepidoptera pest parasitic wasps, and has a wide application prospect.
