In hot strip plants the residual heat of a part of the slabs after casting was hitherto utilized by either directly rolling the slabs or inserting the slabs into the furnace in a still warm or hot state. After casting, the remaining slabs usually cool down in an aerated hall and are stacked before being further conveyed. The same applies to the residual heat which is present after coiling in the coils which are often air-cooled in a coil storage. A temperature control unit of hot rolling machine that avoids any sharp temperature change of rolling material at a place near the outlet of the rolling machine to thereby realize a high-precision control of sheet thickness. Accordingly, in a hot rolling machine equipped with multiple rolling stands continually disposed and further with multiple cooling units for cooling of rolling material, first, the cooling water pressure of each of the cooling units is computed using up to the upper limit pressure preferentially from one of the multiple cooling units disposed on the inlet side of the rolling machine on the basis of the target temperature and inlet actual temperature of the rolling material. Subsequently, on the basis of the target temperature and outlet actual temperature of the rolling material, so as to reduce any deviation between the target temperature and the outlet actual temperature, there is computed the cooling water pressure of one of the cooling units in operation disposed nearest the outlet of the rolling machine. At that stage, when the cooling water pressure of the cooling unit under control reaches the upper limit pressure, the control object is changed to the cooling unit disposed adjacent to the outlet of the rolling machine. On the other hand, when the cooling water pressure reaches the lower limit pressure, the control object is changed to the cooling unit disposed adjacent to the inlet of the rolling machine.

The invention discloses a rod and wire and a manufacturing technology of a working roll used for a hot strip mill. The technology comprises the steps as follows: a high alloy material is smelt through an intermediate frequency furnace to obtain working-layer liquid iron; then a special method which combines centrifugal compounding with washing of low alloy ductile cast iron liquid iron is used for casting to form a centrifugal compound roll blank; afterwards, the blank roll is processed by procedures as follows: rough machining until the heat treatment condition is met, high-temperature heating, austenitizing, quenching, tempering, semi-finish-turning machining, finish turning machining and the like, and the blank roll is ground to be a finished product; and finally, a hole pattern is subjected to notching treatment according to requirements of the rolling mill. According to the invention, the roll is produced by adopting the high alloy working-layer material and a unique centrifugal and top pouring type half-washing casting technology, the problems that the metallographic structure is poor and the performance index cannot meet requirements due to high alloy content of a core part of the minor-diameter centrifugal composite roll produced with a conventional method are solved, severe accidents such as roll breakage and the like, which are prone to occur during using of steel rolling are eliminated, and the service life of the roll is prolonged.
