Session load balancing and use of VIP as source address for inter-cluster traffic through the use of a session identifier

A method and system for enhancing a load balancing network's ability to load balance sessions is presented. A session identifier is placed within the TCP packet to enable a new mechanism of load distribution and connection grouping within a load balancing system. Specifically, TCP is invoked by a user application to obtain a unique session identifier value. On receiving such a packet, the destination load balancing system hashes over at least the session identifier value, and the node corresponding to the results of the hash algorithm acquires the packet. This method of hashing ensures that the same node acquires all subsequently received TCP packets possessing the same session identifier regardless of the source IP address or source port information. The node then places an identical session identifier value in the form of a response session identifier in its TCP response packet. When the TCP packet with response session identifier is received at a load balancing system, the node whose session identifier matches the response session identifier acquires it.

Scalable search system using human searchers

A system that allows a query to be submitted to a query distribution server that locates a human searcher who can perform a search on the query. The searcher performs a search using conventional search tools, such as a computer browser, and provides the results to the user through the system. A searcher who produces a search accepted by the user is rewarded. The results linked to the query can be stored in a database for later use when a similar query is submitted by another user. The searcher is located by comparing keywords of the query to keywords for which the searcher has registered to do searches. The searcher chosen by the system is one that ranks well in the keywords of the query that match to keywords registered by the searcher, prior successful searching by the searcher, speed of producing search results, and other factors that help to provide a quality search and experience for the user. While the search is being performed the user can be occupied by information provided to the user, such as videos, games, advertisements, etc. The information presented during the search can be based on keywords of the query and designated by the searcher who performs the search. The reward for the searchers can be based on revenue from advertisements.

A system and method for generating commands for current subject to dynamic determinations of a limit. In one embodiment, the dynamically determined limit is a function of power dissipation in a component estimated from a measured current level and as a function of a measured temperature proximate to the component. In another embodiment, the limit is a lesser of two dynamically determined current levels. The system and method may be of particular use in a motor having limits determined with respect to a transistor and a motor winding. More particularly, estimated temperatures are established for a transistor and a motor winding for use in dynamically determining limits. Dynamic current limiting may be applied to a left and right wheeled vehicle such that the limit applied to both wheels is the lower of the limits dynamically determined for each wheel.

Floating electrically isolated active impedance modules are formed to attach to power transmission lines without breaking the lines such that the power line forms a secondary of the main transformer of the module. Each module includes an electrical energy storage device and a switching circuit, such as a single phase inverter, connected to the storage device and to the main transformer primary winding. The inverter can be controlled to couple a selected voltage to the transmission line through the main transformer primary winding which can provide effective positive impedance, negative impedance, or a voltage at or near phase quadrature with the line current. Many active impedance modules may be distributed over a power system grid to allow control of the impedance of the power lines in the grid and to steer power through the grid, with each module electrically isolated from ground and from other phase lines of the transmission system.

The system starts the vehicle with a start battery in a fuel savings manner, removing electrical torque from the alternator shaft, and allows a second (run) battery to provide all or some of the current required by the vehicle loads as a fuel savings measure. The system also utilizes an electrically heated catalytic converter (EHC) and a third (EHC or storage) battery to provide a 3 to 15 second preheat and / or a 20 second current, during vehicle start, to the EHC heater coil, e.g., of a small EHC located in series with a standard catalytic converter for emissions reduction to reduce emissions during start. The start battery is recharged after start and switched out of the system fully charged for future vehicle starts. The run battery is recharged when its charge level drops below a predetermined level with an on board battery charging device powered from a 115 volt or 220 volt ac power line source external to the vehicle.

Startup control method of brushless DC motor

A startup control method of a BLDC motor is disclosed. The method can control the BLDC motor to prevent the generation of a transient current such that the vibration of the BLDC motor can be reduced at the startup stage and perform a stable conversion into a sensorless operation mode such that the startup failure rate of the BLDC motor can be reduced. The startup control method includes commutating a current applied to stator windings according to a rotor position. The method of operating the BLDC motor includes a rotor position that is forcibly aligned and so that phase commutation is performed, a back-electromotive force (back-emf) is detected from a lead voltage of a phase of a voltage which is not applied thereto after performing phase commutation and a determination is performed as to whether the detected back-emf is in a rising interval. The lead voltage of the phase of the voltage which is not applied thereto is integrated, such that if the back-emf is in a rising interval and if an instance that the integration result is greater than a predetermined value a phase commutation time point is set and conversion into a sensorless operation mode is performed if the back-emf detected from the lead voltage is in a stable interval, based on a frequency of the voltage applied to the stator winding.

Portable solar energy system

The portable solar energy system stores electrical energy generated by a solar panel, which is made of an array of photovoltaic cells, in a dc storage battery, and upon demand converts the dc voltage of the battery to an ac output suitable for supplying conventional electrical appliances. The battery is a sealed lead-acid type and may be an Absorbed Glass Mat (AGM) battery. The system includes an energy storage and converting unit, which houses the battery and a dc-to-ac inverter.
