Determining the effectiveness of internet advertising

The method and system of the present invention enables Internet businesses to conduct real-time, online experiments on a sample of transactions to determine marketplace sensitivities. Analysis of the results of the experiments reveal optimal values of key market decision variables such as price, content of banner ads, promotion levels, quantity discount schemes, etc. The experiments may be automatically conducted on an on-going basis, or may be conducted on a periodic basis. The method and system of the present invention preferably allow users to modify the nature of the experiment and the propagation of optimal values. The method and system of the current invention can be used for a pure diagnostic purpose or to automate the setting of key market variables. The dynamic experimentation used by the inventive system reveals the relative stability (or instability) of the networked market within which the business operates. The translation of an optimal value for a key variable (for example, content of a banner ad) to the entire market can be done on a real-time basis.

Hybrid vehicle and method of controlling the same

In a constant speed drive (in an auto cruise), the procedure of the invention executes proportional control to set an accelerator opening Acc corresponding to an observed vehicle speed and a target vehicle speed. When the accelerator opening Acc is less than a preset opening A2 included in a dead zone where a torque demand Tr* is kept equal to 0, the procedure corrects the accelerator opening Acc to have a corresponding torque demand Tr* included in a negative zone where the torque demand Tr* takes negative values and linearly increases. This arrangement heightens the linearity of the graph of the torque demand Tr* against the accelerator opening Acc in the constant speed drive, compared with the linearity in a standard drive.

System for continuously preparing gasoline, kerosene and diesel oil from waste plastics

The present invention relates to a method and system for the continuous preparation of gasoline, kerosene, and diesel oil from waste plastics. The method comprises the steps of: subjecting a melt of the waste plastics to a first catalytic reaction in which the waste plastic melt is in contact with a nickel or nickel alloy catalyst to be dehydrogenated while being decomposed; subjecting the dehydrogenated and decomposed waste plastic melt to a fluid catalytic cracking, as a second catalytic reaction to produce a gasoline-based fraction at a high fraction; fractionating the cracked material into a gasoline-based fraction, a kerosene fraction, and a diesel oil fraction; and reforming the gasoline-based fraction to produce a high octane number gasoline. The present invention can apply to a small scale facility, not to apply to a large scale facility. Also, the present invention allows gasoline to be prepared from the waste plastics in a high fraction and an efficient manner, thereby contributing to resource reclamation and environment protection.

Radiation detector and detection method, and medical diagnostic apparatus employing same

In a detector arrangement for a medical diagnosis apparatus as well as a medical imaging diagnostic method, radiation quanta striking a detector are detected and evaluated with spatial resolution. The use of collimators is thereby omitted, such that radiation quanta that strike at a non-perpendicular angle to the detector are also evaluated. For spatial resolution of the origin of the radiation quantum, the spatial distribution of sensor elements of the detector that emit a signal upon incidence of a radiation quantum is evaluated. A higher efficiency of the radiation evaluation is enabled and, particularly in nuclear medical diagnostic methods, the radiation exposure of the patient can be distinctly reduced.

Packet switching in a cellular radio communication system

The present invention relates to a device and a method for packet switching in a cellular radio communication system. Radio stations that have packets to transmit, transmit packets with a particular transmission probability (Si,n). The fraction of the transmitted packets that are received correctly by the receiving radio station, the so-called throughput fraction (ti,n), can be calculated. The transmission probability (Si,n) for a transmitting radio station is continuously updated according to a mapping function (f(a)) that depends on the value of the throughput fraction (ti,n). According to the invention a mapping function (f(a)), with a derivative with an absolute value less than one, is chosen (201). Starting values of the throughput fraction (ti,n) are generated (203) and these values are input to the mapping function. Updated values of the transmission probability (Si,n) are generated (204) by mapping function. The transmitting radio station transmits (205) packets according to the updated transmission probability, whereby a new value of the throughput fraction is generated (206). The method is repeated until the values of the throughput fraction are stable.

Increased Stability of a Complex Material Stack in a Semiconductor Device by Providing Fluorine Enriched Interfaces

When forming complex metallization systems, a sensitive material, such as a ULK material, may be deposited on a silicon-containing dielectric material, such as an etch stop material, with superior adhesion by performing a surface treatment on the basis of fluorine radicals. Due to the fluorine treatment, silicon-fluorine bonds are generated, which are then broken up upon interacting with the chemically active component during the further deposition process. Consequently, the subsequent material layer is chemically bonded to the underlying material, thereby imparting superior stability to the interface, which in turn may result in superior robustness and reliability of the metallization system upon performing reflowing processes and operating complex packaged semiconductor devices.
