35 results about "Nerve tract" patented technology

A nerve tract is a bundle of nerve fibers (axons) connecting nuclei of the central nervous system. In the peripheral nervous system this is known as a nerve, and has associated connective tissue. The main nerve tracts in the central nervous system are of three types: association fibers, commissural fibers, and projection fibers. A tract may also be referred to as a commissure, fasciculus or decussation. A commissure connects the two cerebral hemispheres at the same levels. Examples are the posterior commissure and the corpus callosum. A decussation is a connection made by fibres that cross at different levels (obliquely), such as the sensory decussation. Examples of a fascicle are the subthalamic fasciculus and the lenticular fasciculus.

The present invention provides methods and compositions for enhancing recovery in a subject suffering from damage to the nervous system. In particular, the invention includes a method for promoting recovery and / or reorganization in the nervous system of a subject in need of enhancement of recovery and / or reorganization of the nervous system as a result of ischemic, hemorrhagic, neoplastic, degenerative, or traumatic damage by focally administering a composition comprising a proteolysis-enhancing agent such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), plasmin, or a PAI inhibitor to the nervous system of the subject. In some embodiments an additional active agent is also administered. The composition can be delivered using a variety of techniques including injection, via infusion pump, from an implantable microchip, or using a polymeric delivery vehicle. The composition can be administered, for example, to one or more subdivisions or areas of the brain, the spinal cord, or to one or more nerves or nerve tracts innervating diverse regions of the body. The invention also includes a drug delivery device for implantation into the nervous system to promote nervous system reorganization and / or recovery following ischemic, hemorrhagic, neoplastic, traumatic or degenerative damage, the drug delivery device comprising a biocompatible polymer and a proteolysis-enhancing agent such as tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), plasmin, or a PAI inhibitor, wherein the proteolysis-enhancing agent is released from the polymer in an amount effective to promote structural reorganization of the nervous system. In some embodiments the biocompatible polymer is a hydrogel.

Method for manufacturing flexible spiral electrode and nerve tract detection and treatment device

The disclosure relates to a method of manufacturing a flexible spiral electrode and a nerve tract detection and treatment device. The method comprises: a substrate is heated to be at a transformationtemperature and the substrate winds around a first forming rod spirally to form a to-be-formed substrate; the temperature of the to-be-formed substrate is kept to be larger than or equal to a first plastic deformation within first time and thus a spiral substrate is formed; the spiral substrate is heated to be at a transformation temperature and the substrate is flattened to obtain a flattened substrate; a metal electrode is transferred to the flattened substrate; a lead is connected to a lead connection end of the metal electrode, so that an electrical stimulation signal is sent to the metalelectrode through the lead and/or an electrical signal of a nerve tract in contact with the metal electrode is obtained; heating is carried out to reach a transformation temperature and thus the shapeof the flattened substrate is transformed into a spiral shape, so that a flexible spiral electrode is obtained. The manufactured flexible spiral electrode has high extensibility and the contact degree and the matching degree with the nerve tract are high; and the operation is carried out conveniently. Moreover, the service life is long; the stability is high; and the side effects are low.

Cervical dilatation balloon catheter

The invention relates to the technical field of medical instruments, and discloses a cervical dilatation balloon catheter. According to the cervical dilatation balloon catheter, tablets are placed in a medicine storage cavity by rotating a head end, the head end is tightened, lubricating physiological liquid medicine is injected into a sealing injection ring, the lubricating physiological liquid medicine dissolves the tablets into particles and flows out of the medicine outlet holes, so that the inner wall of the vagina of a puerpera is lubricated, meanwhile, the aims of stopping bleeding and suppressing pain are achieved, and comfort is improved; According to the cervical dilatation balloon catheter, a first balloon and a second balloon are filled with normal saline and placed on the inner opening of the cervix uteri, mild mechanical expansion force is generated on the lower uterine segment and the cervix uteri, disappearance of the lower uterine segment and dilatation of the uterine opening are promoted, meanwhile, secretion of endogenous prostaglandin is stimulated through separation and stripping of a fetal membrane, so that the cervix uteri of the puerpera is gradually expanded unconsciously, and accordingly nerves reflect, so that nerve tracts of posterior pituitary release oxytocin, the oxytocin level in maternal blood circulation is increased, uterus contraction is promoted to be continuously enhanced, then labor induction is successful, and the operation efficiency is improved.
