81 results about "Reducing equivalent" patented technology

In biochemistry, the term reducing equivalent refers to any of a number of chemical species which transfer the equivalent of one electron in redox reactions. A redox reaction (oxidation-reduction reaction) is a chemical reaction with a transfer of electrons between chemical species, resulting in a change of oxidation state for each species. A chemical species is reduced when it gains electrons and is oxidized when it loses electrons. A reducing equivalent serves as the electron donor in a redox reaction and becomes oxidized (loses electrons) when it donates an electron to an electron acceptor. A reducing equivalent can donate an electron in multiple ways: a lone electron, hydrogen atom, a hydride, or bond formation with an oxygen atom. Each form of reducing equivalent is characterized by the donation of at least one electron.

Material containing metal ion ligand complex producing nitric oxide in contact with blood

Biocompatible materials that have the ability to release nitric oxide (NO) in situ at the surface-blood interface when in contact with blood. The materials which may be polymers (e.g., polyurethane, poly(vinyl chloride), silicone rubbers), metals, such as stainless steel, carbon, and the like are provided with biocatalysts or biomimetic catalysts on their surface that have nitrite, nitrate, and / or nitrosothiol-reducing capability. Illustratively, the catalysts are adsorbed or immobilized at the surface of the material. The catalysts can act on endogenous nitrite, nitrate, or nitrosothiols within the blood creating a local increase in the NO levels at the surface of the material. An illustrative enzymatic biocatalyst is mammalian xanthine oxidase. In another illustrative embodiment, a biomimetic catalyst is a copper (Cu(II)-ligand complex, e.g. dibenzo[e,k]-2,3,8,9-tetraphenyl-1,4,7,10-tetraaza-cyclododeca-1,3,7,9-tetraene. In some cases, lipophilic salts of nitrite / nitrate (e.g., tridodecylmethylammonium nitrite (TDMA+NO2− / NO3−)) or certain salts of nitrosothiols can be doped within a polymer material, or an underlying polymeric film, to create a reservoir of nitrite or nitrosothiol that continuously leaks into the immobilized catalytic layer. Adequate levels of endogenous reducing equivalents are present within blood to provide catalytically-generated surface levels of NO that are above the threshold reportedly required to prevent platelet adhesion or activation.

The invention discloses a broadband capacitive feed miniature microstrip paster antenna. A foam dielectric substrate is arranged between a microstrip dielectric substrate and an earth plate and thus the thicknesses of the dielectric substrates are increased; and an equivalent dielectric constant is reduced and a working band width of the antenna is extended. A metal short-circuit surface is loaded at an edge of one side of a radiation paster to form a standing wave structure from an open circuit to a short circuit; and the length of the antenna at the direction perpendicular to the short-circuit surface is a quarter of a wavelength. Slotting is carried out on the radiation paster and the path of an excitation current of the surface of the antenna paster is bent, thereby increasing the effective length of the antenna paster and thus reducing the resonant frequency and realizing miniaturization of the antenna at the another-dimensional dimension. Coupling and feeding are carried out by using a capacitive paster to realize good impedance matching, thereby reducing equivalent quality factors of the antenna and realizing increasing of the operating bandwidth of the antenna. According to the invention, a defect that the existing microstrip paster antenna can not consider the wide frequency band and miniaturization simultaneously can be overcome. The provided antenna has advantages of wide frequency band, low profile, small dimension, light weight, and easy processing.

Transient electromagnetic transmitter circuit with load in parallel connection for discharging

The invention relates to a transient electromagnetic transmitter circuit with loads in parallel connection for discharging. The transient electromagnetic transmitter circuit comprises a DC power supply, an H bridge circuit, load coils, bidirectional switches, a load discharging loop and a constant-voltage clamping circuit, wherein the DC power supply is connected with the load coil N through the H bridge circuit, the load coil I, the bidirectional switch I, the load coil II, the bidirectional switch II...; the load coil I, the load coil II,...and the load coil N are each connected with the load discharging loop; and the load discharging loop is connected with the DC power supply through the constant-voltage clamping circuit. Compared with the prior art, by adopting the bidirectional switches and diodes, the load coils are in a series connection state when the current rises and is stable, and the load coils are in parallel connection state in discharging. The transient electromagnetic transmitter circuit effectively reduces equivalent inductance of the loads in discharging, reduces turn-off delay time of the transmitter, and reduces transient electromagnetic detection blind zone. The load coil segmentation method is flexible, and parallel load inductance value can be changed according to specific detection requirements. Under the condition of same turn-off delay time, the transmitting current or load coil number can be increased, the equivalent magnetic moment is enlarged, and the detection depth and resolution are increased.

Technique for Forming a Cathode of a Wet Electrolytic Capacitor

A technique for forming a cathode of a wet electrolytic capacitor is provided. The cathode contains a metal substrate having a roughened surface and a conductive coating that contains a substituted polythiophene. The degree of surface contact between the conductive coating and the roughened surface is enhanced in the present invention by selectively controlling the manner in which the conductive coating is formed. More particularly, the conductive coating is formed by applying a precursor solution to the roughened surface that includes both a precursor thiophene monomer and an oxidative catalyst. Contrary to techniques in which either the monomer or catalyst is applied separately and initially contacts the metal surface, the presence of the monomer and catalyst within the same solution allows polymer chains to grow immediately adjacent to the surface of the metal substrate and within the pits. This can significantly increase the degree of contact between the conductive coating and metal substrate, thereby resulting in improved mechanical robustness and electrical performance (e.g., reduced equivalent series resistance and leakage current). To minimize the likelihood of premature polymerization, the oxidative catalyst is also employed in an amount less than what is required to fully react all of the reagent assuming 100% yield (i.e., “stoichiometric amount”). This can slow the polymerization of the monomer, creating oligomers that are shorter than if fully polymerized, which can better penetrate into the roughened regions of the metal substrate.
