A method of removing mercury from flue gas containing mercury and particulate solids emanating from a fossil-fuel energy conversion plant and passing through a flue gas duct. The method includes (a) contacting the mercury in the flue gas with a solution containing at least one chloride-containing salt dissolved in a solvent by injecting the solution into the flue gas duct at an injection location, in order to oxidize mercury into HgCl₂, (b) heating the solution prior to or after step (a) to at least about 300° C., and (c) removing oxidized mercury from the flue gas with a device for removing particulate solids from the flue gas.

The invention is a fuel cell (20) having a corrosion resistant and protected cathode catalyst layer (24). High strength materials are used in the construction of the stress joint to minimize the effects of stresses in the wellhead connector. The connection fixture provides electrical insulation (34) between the engagement points of the stress joint and the tie-back connector to minimize corrosive galvanic action. The connection structure provides an upwardly facing flange (18) that may be threaded or otherwise connected to the top of the tie-back connector and is adapted to mate with and secure to a downwardly facing flange (12a) carried at the bottom of the stress joint (12).

Aldehydes useful as H₂S sulfide scavengers may be corrosive to some metals such as steel, iron and aluminum, but the corrosive effect of the aldehydes may be mitigated by employing a corrosion inhibitor selected from the group consisting of a di-basic soluble phosphate salt, a tri-basic soluble phosphate salt, a phosphate ester, a thiophosphate ester, a thioamine, and combinations thereof.

A process of using solutions containing thiosulfate and/or chloride salt reagents to remove SO₃ and H₂SO₄ acid gases from a flue gas. The solution is injected into a moving volume of flue gas to achieve a droplet size that enables the solution to dry on contact with the flue gas, generating dried particles of the reagent that react with the SO₃ and H₂SO₄ acid gases yielding a salt precipitate. SO₂ present in the flue gas may also be absorbed with the solution, with a subsequent reaction yielding bisulfite species that, upon drying of the droplet, react with the SO₃ and H₂SO₄ acid gases to form salts that are removed from the gas. The removal of these acid gases from a flue gas reduce corrosion of equipment used in coal or oil fired power plants downstream of the injection cite.

A piping riser protector for protectively covering the end portion of a riser assembly that includes a larger diameter central pipe and a plurality of smaller diameter peripheral pipes connected by a flange includes a polymeric body that protectively covers inner and outer surfaces of an end portion of the larger diameter pipe and provides enclosures that cover the exposed end portion of the smaller diameter pipe sections in between the end of each smaller diameter pipe section and the flange.

One exemplary embodiment can be a process for reducing corrosion during removal of one or more sulfur-containing hydrocarbons from a gas. Generally, the process includes producing an effluent including a caustic, one or more hydrocarbons, one or more sulfur compounds, and a gas from an oxidation vessel; sending the effluent to a stack of a disulfide separator; passing the gas, including oxygen and one or more sulfur compounds, through the stack; and passing a stream including one or more hydrocarbons to the stack at a temperature of less than about 38° C. for absorbing the one or more sulfur compounds. A hydrogen sulfide scavenging process for heavy oil that reduces hydrogen sulfide while minimizing corrosion to processing equipment. The method includes the steps of adding an aqueous-based scavenger containing one or more aldehydes, such as glyoxal, to the heavy oil using a static mixer injection system and creating an aqueous-based scavenger/heavy oil emulsion using a high shear/high velocity pump. The present invention relates to a tubing rotator assembly for attachment to an existing casing head for purposes of suspending and rotating a tubing string in an oil well. In the preferred embodiment, the tubing assembly includes a rotation surface, such as a bearing, in which a tubing mandrel rests and allows one to rotate the tubing manually above the wellhead. It provides a low profile reducing the distance between the casing head and the pumping tee, which may eliminate the need for one to raise the pumping unit to fit on the rotator. In addition, the conventional seals above the rotation surface have less chance of leaking fluids located between the casing and tubing due to the seals potentially installed in the present invention. In addition, if the conventional seals do start to leak, then one can change the packing rubber without having to remove the pump tee, tubing rotator assembly or tubing string (thus, not requiring a rig to change the sealing elements). The tubing assembly includes a mandrel bowl that rests inside the casing head. The mandrel bowl has an interior ledge in which the bearing may be placed on top of the ledge. A tubing mandrel is partially contained within the interior of the mandrel bowl with one end exiting the bottom of the bowl and attached to the tubing string in the well, and the opposite end of the tubing mandrel exiting the top of the bowl. The tubing mandrel has a ledge which is rotatably mounted to the mandrel bowl. Said ledge of the tubing mandrel is supported on the bearing, which bearing rests on the interior ledge of the mandrel bowl. The ledge of the tubing mandrel therefore engages and rotatably rides against the bearing. This arrangement allows the tubing to rotate by rotating the tubing mandrel resting on the bearing located inside the mandrel bowl.

A method of manufacturing a semiconductor device includes a process for forming a photoresist pattern. In the disclosed process, residual photoresist polymers are removed using a photoresist polymer remover composition that includes: (a) 5% to 15% of sulfuric acid based on the total weight of said composition, (b) 1% to 5% of hydrogen peroxide or 0.0001% to 0.05% of ozone based on the total weight of said composition, (c) 0.1% to 5% of acetic acid based on the total weight of said composition, (d) 0.0001% to 0.5% of ammonium fluoride based on the total weight of said composition and (e) remaining amount of water.

The present invention is related to an optimization method to internal combustion engines that reduces the fuel consumption and the exhaust emissions and particulated material. The operation principle is based in the introduction of small quantities of hydrogen in the air intake duct of the engine with the objective of optimizing the combustion of the traditional fuels, improving the parameters of the combustion reaction. This optimized combustion will increase the efficiency of the engine and reduce its environmental impact. The hydrogen is produced by an electrolysis reaction inside an electrochemical closed cell with non-circulating electrolyte.

A fuel cell system having at least one fuel cell, which possesses one anode area as well as one cathode area that is separated from the anode area by an electrolyte. The anode area and the cathode area each contain one catalyst for the catalytic conversion of reactants being supplied to the fuel cell. During downtime periods of the fuel cell, the anode area is filled with air or oxygen. Provided in the area of an inlet and/or in the area of an outlet of the anode area is an additional catalyst for the catalytic conversion of hydrogen with oxygen, which is set up to catalytically convert hydrogen diffusing towards the anode area during downtime periods of the fuel cell when the anode area is filled with air or oxygen.
