The invention discloses a growing culture medium for ecological remediation and a preparation method thereof. The growing culture medium comprises the following raw materials in parts by weight: 5-12 parts of lutein ester, 11-19 parts of lignocellulose, 7-15 parts of algin, 28-36 parts of straw powder, 15-25 parts of tartaric acid, 20-30 parts of variegated-leaf begonia and 1-5 parts of propyl acetate. The preparation method comprises the following steps: mixing the variegated-leaf begonia, the tartaric acid and deionized water, heating, performing ultrasonic treatment, mixing with the lignocellulose and the propyl acetate, heating, and performing ultrasonic treatment to obtain a mixture B; adding deionized water and the tartaric acid into the straw powder, heating, and performing ultrasonic treatment to obtain a mixture C; mixing the mixture B and the mixture C, adding the remaining materials, heating, and stirring till a dry state to obtain the growing culture medium. The growing culture medium can effectively improve soil, play water-retaining and fertilizer-retaining roles, improves the growth environment for plants, can provide nutrients immediately, can activate heavy metals which cannot be dissociated from the soil so as to promote heavy metal absorption of the plants, and can be applied to the fields of ecological remediation for a mining area, heavy metal-contaminated land remediation, slope remediation and the like.
