Method of treating sandy soils to reduce water repellency therein

Certain novel formulations of turf additives that act in such a manner as to permit proper amounts of moisture to contact root systems in order to reduce dry spots within highly managed turf areas and / or lawns. It is theorized that the accumulation of humic acid (and other natural byproduct deleterious compounds) at the topsoil surface in most cultivated grassy areas including sandy soils (such as, in particular, golf greens), results in the production of an effective organic waxy coating on the soil components. Such a coating is hydrophobic in nature and thus dries out the soil itself. The inventive formulation thus permits removal of such accumulated humic acid (and other compounds) from the topsoil to the level necessary to provide effective moisture penetration for sustained grass growth therein (hereinafter referred to as "redistributes"). Methods of providing such beneficial removal of humic substances from target sandy soils are also contemplated within this invention, as well as specific test hydrophobic sand formulations.

The invention relates to a sand fixation method of a green degradable inorganic sand fixation material, belonging to the field of environmental protection. The inorganic sand fixation material is prepared by mixing calcium silicate slag, fly ash, industrial mineral slag powder, gypsum, cement and solid aggregate used as main raw materials. The sand fixation material and water are mixed to prepare a sand fixation slurry; and the sand fixation slurry is sprayed or spread on sand soil to form a solidifying layer on the sand soil surface. The solidifying layer can satisfy the mechanical property requirements for fixing traveling dunes. After the sand fixation layer is laid, the sand fixation region is subjected to soil improvement and plant growth, so that the sand fixation layer can be degraded into substances which are nontoxic and harmless to the environment within 1-5 years, thereby obtaining the soil components and lowering the influence of artificial buildings on the desert ecological environment. After the sand fixation material reacts with water, no toxic component resides, and thus, the sand fixation material has the advantages of high safety and no secondary pollution. Besides, abundant industrial solid wastes are doped to lower the influence of solid waste piling on the environment; and the method has the advantages of low cost, simple construction technique and high practicality, and is applicable to related fields of desertification control and the like.

The method comprises the following steps: adding distilled water into an air-dried soil sample and carrying out ultrasonic quantitative auxiliary dispersion by using an ultrasonic crusher; then carrying out wet sieving by using a soil sieve with an aperture of 63 mu m so as to divide soil into two parts; subjecting soil on the sieve to density grading with NaI so as to obtain a granular soil component, sand and an aggregate soil component; and subjecting a turbid liquid of soil below the sieve to centrifugation, then subjecting an obtained supernatant to vacuum pumping filtration with a 0.45-micrometer filter membrane, allowing a filtrate to undergo freeze-drying so as to obtain a soluble soil component and oxidizing aleuritic clay with a particle size of more than 0.45 mu m obtained after pumping filtration with sodium hypochlorite so as to obtain an acid-insoluble soil component, wherein the difference between the aleuritic clay and the acid-insoluble soil component is an easily-oxidizable soil component, and so grading of the above-mentioned five soil components is finished. The obtained soil components can be used for determination of related physical and chemical properties like carbon and nutrients of soil. Recycling of NaI is realized through active carbon adsorption and filter paper filtration.

The method comprises the following steps that a soil component spatial distribution image and a microwave brightness temperature spatial distribution image of each wave band are acquired; the average effective temperature of the earth surface is calculated by utilizing vertical and horizontal polarization brightness temperature data of a K waveband, and a microwave brightness temperature polarization difference index of an X waveband is constructed by utilizing vertical and horizontal polarization brightness temperature data of the X waveband; the surface average effective temperature and the microwave brightness temperature polarization difference index of the X waveband are substituted into a soil dielectric constant mathematical model and a microwave radiation transfer model so as to solve the optical thickness of vegetation and the dielectric constant of soil; and the dielectric constant of the soil is substituted into a soil moisture content inversion model, and calculation is made so as to acquire the surface soil moisture content. The method has the advantage thatafter verification, compared with a data value obtained through an original algorithm, and a data value of the soil moisture content calculated through an improved inversion algorithm has higher inversion precision under a waterish surface condition.
