A method is provided for fabricating a porous elastomer, the method comprising the steps of: providing a predetermined amount of a liquid elastomer and a predetermined amount of a porogen; mixing the liquid elastomer and the porogen in vacuum until a homogenous emulsion without phase separation is formed; curing the homogenous emulsion until polymerizations of the emulsion is reached, thereby forming a cured emulsion; and removing the porogen from the cured emulsion. The method can advantageously be used for forming biocompatible porous elastomers and biocompatible porous membranes.

An apparatus for feeding an inner wrapper for an inner pack in a cigarette package has a rotatable web roll (R) formed by winding a web for the inner wrapper. The web has aluminum foil and a paper layer laminated onto the aluminum foil and containing menthol. An integrated circuit package includes an interposer and an integrated circuit die. The interposer is formed from a layer of semiconductor material that is separated from a bulk portion of a semiconductor substrate, and the integrated circuit die is coupled to the interposer. Vias in the interposer can be formed in the thin layer of semiconductor material removed from the semiconductor substrate, and therefore can be scaled down significantly in size. Such reduced-size, through-interposer vias can be etched and filled much more cost-effectively and result in greatly reduced parasitic capacitance in the integrated circuit package.
