Systems and methods for limiting web site access

Methods relate to providing limited temporary access to a web site to visitors who desire to experience all the features provided by this site before becoming a member. The temporary access privileges may be limited by duration, which is counted from the initial access request, or by number of accesses. At the end of the temporary access period, the visitor may be given additional access privileges before being permanently denied access. The user may be identified either by the IP address assigned to the user device or by the user's e-mail address.

Light emitting diode driver circuit and method

A mirco-controller and boost converter circuit provide constant current to light emitting diode array. A micro-controller operatively coupled with a semiconductor switch and the boost converter circuit measure the ability of a DC power supply to change the inductor. Duty cycles of the semiconductor switch are modified according to the measurement so as to supply substantially constant current to the LED array through an inductor regardless of actual battery voltage.

Methods, systems and devices for desufflating a lung area

Methods, systems and devices are described for temporarily or permanently evacuating stagnating air from a diseased lung area, typically for the purpose of treating COPD. Evacuation is accomplished by displacing the stagnant CO2-rich air with a readily diffusible gas using a transluminal indwelling catheter specially configured to remain anchored in the targeted area for long term treatment without supervision. Appropriate elevated positive gas pressure in the targeted area is then regulated via the catheter and a pneumatic control unit to force under positive pressure effusion of the diffusible gas out of the area into neighboring areas while inhibiting infusion of other gases thus effecting a gradual gas volume decrease and deflation of the targeted area.

Method and system for managing data in cache

Disclosed is a system for managing data in cache. A list of data entries in a first memory area has a first end and a second end, such as a most recently used (MRU) end and least recently used (LRU) end. A first pointer addresses a data entry in the list and a second pointer addresses another data entry in the list that is not at the first and second ends. Data from a second memory area is provided to add to the list. A determination is made as to whether the provided data to add to the list is one of a first type and second type of data, such as sequentially accessed data or non-sequentially accessed data. The provided data is stored in the first memory area as a new data entry in the list. The first pointer is modified to address the new data entry after determining that the provided data is of the first type. After determining that the provided data is of the second type, the second pointer is processed to determine where to add the new data entry to the list between the first and second ends.

Actively stabilized systems for the generation of ultrashort optical pulses

A system and method for generating an optical laser pulse train of constant ultrashort pulse duration and low timing jitter in a fiber ring laser system (resonator) while keeping the laser resonator resilient to environmental conditions like temperature, humidity and pressure. The laser resonator may be actively mode-locked with a periodic electrically driven modulation at a specific frequency that corresponds to the inverse of the transit time inside the resonator. The optical pulse train quality may be monitored in real time, and the frequency of the modulation may be dynamically tuned in real time to compensate for resonator length changes due to changes in the environmental conditions.

Fuel injection valve

A fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engines is proposed, in which the control of the fuel injection valve member is controlled through the control of the pressure of a control chamber (25). This chamber is either relieved by means of a control valve (31) or is subjected to a high pressure, which brings the fuel injection valve member into the closed position. At the same time as the relief of the control chamber, a valve member (33) of a safety valve (32) that controls the fuel supply to the fuel injection valve is opened so that upon opening of the fuel injection valve, high-pressure fuel simultaneously also can travel by way of a pressure line (12) from a high-pressure fuel reservoir (14) to the injection openings (8) of the fuel injection valve (1). After the end of the injection, the valve member (33) is closed again, together with the closing of the fuel injection valve member (5). Consequently, in the event of a malfunction, unwanted fuel is prevented from reaching injection for a long period of time and consequently possibly destroying the associated engine due to overdosing.

An inventive autonomous active manoeuvring method and system 1 for spinning spacecraft is provided having a capability to enhance the AOCMS performance of passive spinning satellites and to fulfil the emerging autonomy requirements applicable to new generation satellites. In broad terms, the invention resides in (a) the overall concept of providing autonomous execution of spin axis re-orientation manoeuvring for spinning spacecraft designed and executed autonomously on-board the spacecraft by the AOCMS and (b) in the proposed strategy set in place to execute the re-orientation manoeuvres with respect to the handling of residual nutation. Advantageously, the provision of coupling nutation avoidance manoeuvres with active nutation damping 8 on board the spacecraft reduces / minimises the manoeuvre settling time required to return the spacecraft to the steady state pointing performance, while not imposing constraints upon the particular spacecraft inertia sensor properties.

Method and apparatus for controlling t1 recovery process in magnetic resonance measurements

Radiation damping (RD) is employed to hasten the recovery of longitudinal magnetization after RF excitation and signal readout in a magnetic resonance measurement cycle. A switch driven by the pulse sequence that performs the measurement cycle energizes a feedback RF coil driven by an amplified and phase shifted portion of the received MR signal. The recovery of longitudinal magnetization is thus under direct control of the MR system and enables the reduction of the otherwise inefficient waiting times that are required for natural T1 recovery of the excited spin magnetization. This enables shortened acquisition times, improved sensitivity, better spatial and temporal resolution, and reduction of motion artifacts that result from long acquisition times.
