The invention relates to a chuck apparatus for a wafer probe station in which the central conductive surface supports a device-under-test (DUT) over a conductive lower chuck portion. An insulator positions the center conductor surface of the chuck above the lower chuck portion and also positions an electrically isolated conductor along its periphery. A laterally extending shielding element is provided for shielding electromagnetic interference (EMI) from the center conductor surface and the lower chuck portion. The electrically isolated conductor and the conductive lower chuck portion may cooperate to form a line-of-sight electrical barrier between the center conductor surface and the laterally extending shielding element. The invention further relates to methods of manufacturing the chuck apparatus and using the apparatus to accomplish low current and voltage tests in a probe station.

Loop filters are included in each of the phase and envelope paths to enable the path characteristics to be matched to one another. A polar loop transmitter and other types of envelope elimination and restoration transmitters control the output envelope of the power amplifier by connecting the output of the envelope detector, or in an envelope feedback transmitter, the envelope error signal, to the bias control input of the power amplifier. The transmitter can further include compensation means for compensating for non-linearities in the envelope control means and a loss of feedback control detector to ensure that the feedback signal remains within acceptable limits.

A short coherence interferometer apparatus for measuring multiple axially spaced regions of a specimen, in particular the eye, which has at least one measuring beam path, through which multiple individual measuring beams are incident on the specimen, and one reference beam path, through which a reference beam runs, with which the individual measuring beams are superimposed and brought into interference. The individual measuring beams are axially offset to one another upon incidence on the specimen by an amount which is adapted to the axial spacing. Starting apparatus for internal combustion engine and automobile

An idling stop control of the invention attains an auto start and an auto stop of an engine. At a time point t1, pre-set stop conditions are met to cut off a fuel supply to the engine. Preset starting conditions may be met at a time point t2 when the engine still continues rotating in a normal direction by the inertial force. In this state, the idling stop control starts cranking the engine. The preset starting conditions may be met at a time point t4 when a piston does not complete a compression cycle immediately before a stop of the engine but is pressed back by the compressed air to rotate the engine in a reverse direction. In this state, the idling stop control waits until cancellation of the reverse rotation of the engine and then starts cranking the engine. The arrangement of the invention desirably ensures a quick start of the engine, while effectively preventing an excess stress from acting on a gear mechanism, which connects a starter motor to the engine.

A touch screen is disclosed. The touch screen can include a touch panel and a display, where the display can have a conductive element coupled to or disposed along at least one side at a periphery of a conductive layer of the display. The conductive element can drive the conductive layer from multiple positions along the element to provide a grounding shield for the touch screen. The grounding shield can shunt display interference to ground rather than into the touch panel. The conductive element can also drive the conductive layer from multiple positions along the element, thereby providing an increased bandwidth, to quickly reach an appropriate voltage in association with the touch panel, consequently improving the touch sensitivity of the panel. The conductive element can include multiple configurations, e.g., a ring around a perimeter of the conductive layer, a partial ring around three sides of the periphery of the conductive layer, two elements on opposite sides at the periphery, and one element along one side at the periphery.
