The invention discloses an electric control system for automatic flaw detection of steel pipes, which comprises a control unit and a sensor unit, wherein an input end of the control unit is connected with an ultrasonic flaw detector, and an output end of the control unit is connected with two topping electromagnetic valves, twelve loading roller motors, three forced-delivery roller motors, six pinch roller electromagnetic valves, twelve blanking roller motors, six overturning motors, one storing motor and two stirring electromagnetic valves. The invention also discloses an electric control method for the automatic flaw detection of the steel pipes, which comprises the steps of material lifting, loading, forced delivery, blanking and storing. The control system and the control method use a PLC as a control core which is matched with the ultrasonic flaw detector to finish a series of actions of material lifting, forced delivery, stirring and stacking for the automatic flaw detection of the steel pipes, so compared with a conventional relay control system, the whole control system is optimized and has more stable performance.
