Method and apparatus for providing pulses inhalation of 17o2 for magnetic resonance imaging of cerebral metabolism

Prior approaches have delivered O2 to a subject by inhalation, but the relationship between local signal changes and metabolism has been complicated by H217O created in non-cerebral tissues. During a brief pulse of 17O2 inhalation, this arterial input function for H217O is negligible due to convective transport delays. Additional delays in the arterial input function due to restricted diffusion of water makes pulsed inhalation of 17O2 even more effective. Accordingly, ventilator system are provided to deliver 17O2 as a brief pulse to a subject. Subsequent MR imaging demonstrates delayed appearance of H217O in the cerebral ventricles, suggesting that the arterial input function of H217O is delayed by restricted water diffusion in addition to convective transit delays. Delivery as a brief pulse therefore offers significant advantages in relating MR signal changes directly to metabolism.

A controlled release product is provided having a suppressed initial release period and a predetermined longevity. The product includes a particulate water soluble core material and a semi-permeable coating layer applied on the core material for controlling the release rate of the core material. After the experimental device is installed on the water turbine, flow of the circulation water pump is adjusted through an electric device to simulate circulation water systems under different working conditions; the flow measurement device and the pressure measurement device are utilized respectively to measure flow of water in the pipeline and water outlet pressure; the torque measurement device and the speed measurement device are utilized respectively to measure torque and rotation speed of the water turbine; and then actual efficiency of the water turbine to be tested is obtained. The experimental device is simple in testing method and accurate in testing data due to concentration test.

The method comprises the following steps: cleaning fresh panax stipuleanatus, cutting the panax stipuleanatus into chunks, perforating the panax stipuleanatus through needle puncture, drying at constant temperature and polishing so as to obtain a dried medicinal material; the drying method disclosed by the invention, by dividing the tubers of the entire panax stipuleanatus into a plurality of drying units through cutting the panax stipuleanatus into chunks before drying and simultaneously by perforating each unit through needle puncture, can increase water diffusion channels inside the panax stipuleanatus body, so as to shorten a drying time; by polishing after drying, mud, fibers and decayed skins attached on the surface of the panax stipuleanatus can be rapidly removed; and compared with a conventional method drying in the sun, the method can be used for improving external and internal qualities of the panax stipuleanatus, and simultaneously, the method can be used for shortening the drying time by 10-15 days.
