63 results about "Water contaminants" patented technology

The most common drinking water contaminants are microorganisms, nitrate, and arsenic. Water quality monitoring has improved over the past five years. Bacteria, viruses, and protozoa (such as Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium) are drinking water contaminants that can rapidly cause widespread and serious illnesses.

Apparatus for de-watering and purifying fuel oils and other liquids

An apparatus for separating water contaminants from a fuel which has a specific gravity which is lower than that of water. Contaminated fuel is drawn from a bottom of a tank and passed into a separator. The water stays at the bottom of the separator and is drained off. The fuel is forced upwardly from which any droplets of water flow along collector plates and fall to the bottom of the separator. The fuel is passed through a filter which removes any particles of matter then the fuel is directed back to the tanks. The process can be repeated for as many times as necessary to cleanse the fuel of water and contaminates.

Method and device for underwater recovery of products or pollutants

An apparatus, method, and system for recovering oil from a submerged oil source, wherein the system includes a submerged conduit having at least two openings, with a first opening capable of being located in proximity of a leak in order to capture leaking oil, and with a second opening capable of communicating captured leaking oil to another location. A natural gas separator, coupled to the submerged conduit separates the boiling vapor phase natural gas from the captured oil thereby outputting oil with water contaminant. An oil / water separator coupled to the natural gas separator then separates out the contaminant water, resulting in a processed recovered oil product for storage and subsequent refinement. The flow to capture the leak is induced by generating a lower pressure at nozzle in the conduit via power jet, air lift, pumping of fluid out of conduit close to sea level, or other methods. Flow within conduit can become self-propelled if natural gas is present and creates an “air lift” effect as the natural gas expands at lower pressures closer towards sea level.

Method of and apparatus for cleaning runoff water

Runoff water from parking lots and filling stations is cleaned by first passing it via an inlet pipe tangentally into a vortex chamber where the swirling action helps to separate the contaminants from the water. Floating contaminants are stored in the vortex chamber, trapped at the top of the chamber by the roof of that chamber and at the lower part of the chamber by a skirt which is part of the chamber and extends downwardly for a limited distance from the inlet pipe. That roof has an access opening to permit removal of the floating contaminants. The body of the fluid thereafter moves downward into a settling chamber where heavier-than-water contaminants settle to the bottom where they can be removed during regular cleaning. As the fluid in the settling chamber builds up it passes through cleaning screens to a clean water outlet. A by-pass overflow pipe to process very large volumes of water extends upward from the settling chamber and ultimately feeds the outlet pipe. Each screen may have louvers projecting from the screen for preventing contaminants from blocking the screen.

Negative-pressure micro-bubble ozone casting water treating method

A negative pressure microbubble ozonized water method relates to a water treatment method and overcomes the problem of that the ozonizer has a large ozone output, the pressure is large, the reactor has a high effective depth, the compressor has a large load, and consequently the power consumption is large and the cost is high, which are caused by the lower gas solution efficiency and the lower ozone utilization ratio of the present ozone oxidation water treatment method. In the present invention, ozone enters into the reactor in an ultramicro bubble gas-water mixed liquor fashion by adopting a negative pressure adding method cooperating with a bubble shearing-machine and a high efficiency gas distributor, and completes the oxidation removing of the water contaminant in the reactor; wherein the ozone adding quantity is 0.5~800 mg / l water, the contact time between ozone and water is 5~100 minutes, the water surface height is 0.8~6 m, and the high efficiency water distributor is arranged in a three layers fashion. The method of the present invention can obviously improve the ozone gas solution efficiency and the ozone utilization ratio, reduce the height of the reactor, and reduce the requirement for the output and the pressure of the ozonizer, so as to reduce the cost.
