Mobile communications in a hierarchical cell structure

A hierarchical cell structure (HCS) cellular communications system includes a macro cell encompassing a smaller micro cell that employ the same frequency band. The macro cell includes a macro cell base station, and the micro cell includes a micro cell base station. An uplink communication cell boundary between the macro cell and the micro cell is established, and a downlink communication cell boundary between the macro cell and the micro cell is established. A radio network controller determines whether a condition exists in the HCS system which indicates that the uplink and downlink micro cell boundaries should be unbalanced. If the condition is met or exists, the power and / or antenna beam tilt of a downlink transmission from the micro cell base station is reduced to unbalance the uplink and downlink micro cell boundaries. Alternatively, the radio network controller may employ an offset value to mathematically reduce mobile detected pilot power levels associated with the micro base station.

Dynamic load balancing

A method, program, system and apparatus perform dynamic load balancing of coverage areas in a wireless communication network. The dynamic load balancing is performed by evaluating cell congestion based on location information of subscribers in the wireless communication network, collecting network parameters related to the wireless communication network and altering network parameters based on the evaluated cell congestion. After the network parameter is altered, the coverage areas are narrowed. Improvements in cell congestion and quality of server are then determined based on the narrowing of the coverage areas. Altering of the plurality of network parameters and evaluating of the cell congestion are performed continuously until a target quality of service is achieved.

Vehicular Content Distribution

A system and method provides an electronic content to a vehicle from access point(s) within a network using a controller. The controller divides the electronic content into one or more files wherein each file contains at least one packet, and generates two or more random linear combinations of the packets within each file. For each file, each random linear combination of the packets is replicated to a different access point within the network. The electronic content is provided to the vehicle using at least one of the different access points. The controller can also determine a set of nearest trajectories for the vehicle in a location database that match a recent location history for the vehicle. For each determined nearest trajectory, one or more mobility trajectories are determined for the vehicle, and a set of access points are determined that correspond to the determined mobility trajectories for the vehicle.

Fuse breakdown method adapted to semiconductor device

A plurality of pulses each having relatively low energy are consecutively applied to a subject fuse to cause breakdown, wherein the total energy of pulses is set in light of a prescribed breakdown threshold, which is calculated in advance. The subject fuse has a pair of terminals and an interconnection portion that is narrowly constricted in the middle so as to realize fuse breakdown with ease. A pulse generator generates pulses, which are repeatedly applied to the subject fuse by way of a transistor; then, it stops generating pulses upon detection of fuse breakdown. Side wall spacers are formed on side walls of fuses, which are processed in a tapered shape so as to reduce thermal stress applied to coating insulating films. In addition, pulse energy is appropriately determined so as to cause electro-migration in the subject fuse, which is thus increased in resistance without causing instantaneous meltdown or evaporation.

Inter-cell power control for interference management

A system and method for inter-cell power control for interference management in an OFDM system is provided. The system provides for a combination use of open loop and closed loop PSD control algorithms. The open loop control is a function of path loss from the serving cell as well as the neighboring cells. The closed loop control updates the end node transmit PSD by listening to the load indicators from the serving cell and at least one other neighboring non-serving cell which generates the highest level of interference. The system thus provides a fast and tight control with multi-cell information that allows improved inter-cell interference control.

Method and System for Equalizing Cable Losses in a Distributed Antenna System

The invention is directed to a method and system for equalizing the signal losses over cable runs in a Distributed Antenna System (DAS). In a DAS, two or more antennae are connected to the system by cable runs that can vary widely in length. As a result, the signal loss over a given cable run can also vary widely which can impact the design and deployment of the DAS and reduce antenna spacing. In addition, for a broadband DAS that supports many frequency bands or ranges using a common antenna unit, the signal losses vary with respect to frequency further making it difficult to equalize the cable losses. According to one embodiment of the invention, the method and system provide for measuring and adjusting the signal losses of each cable run to be a predefined value. According to another embodiment of the invention, the DAS can include a hybrid passive-active antenna unit which includes a frequency multiplexer that separates the signal into frequency bands or ranges that are connected to an antenna element associated with a particular frequency band or range. Where a single frequency band needs to be amplified (or attenuated), a single band amplification block (SBAB) can be inserted in the connection between the frequency multiplexer and the antenna element to amplify (or attenuate) the desired frequency band. Where more than one frequency band need to be amplified (or attenuated), a multiband amplification block (MBAB) can be inserted in the connection between the frequency multiplexer and the appropriate antenna element to amplify (or attenuate) the desired frequency bands.

Wireless sensor network node coverage optimization method based on particle swarm algorithm

A particle swarm algorithm is applied to an optimum coverage problem of wireless sensor network nodes, and the invention provides a coverage mechanism of the particle swarm optimization algorithm based on a discrete binary edition, and the mechanism is used for performing optimal solution on the wireless sensor network node coverage problem. For use in a wireless network, a controller for relay stations. The relay station increases cell coverage and user data rates while employing power consumption saving techniques. The relay station compares a threshold power setting with a current power setting. If the threshold power setting is greater than the current power setting, the relay station increments the threshold power setting and decreases the cell coverage. If the threshold power setting is less than or equal to the current power setting, the relay station decreases the threshold power setting until the threshold power setting is equal to a total power setting of the relay station. The relay station also employs load balancing techniques by comparing a threshold power setting with a current load setting. If the threshold power setting is greater than the current load setting, the relay station increases the cell coverage based on the available bandwidth.

Composition of carbon nitride, thin film transistor with the composition of carbon nitride, display device with the thin film transistor, and manufacturing method thereof

A conventional composition of carbon nitride has a deposition method and properties limited. In the case of using the composition of carbon nitride as a protective film, for example, a material of an object to be coated (goods) is required to satisfy with a condition in disagreement with a temperature during forming the composition of carbon nitride. Besides, in the case of using the composition of carbon nitride as an insulating film in a semiconductor device, low stress relaxation and low coverage for a step are produced since the insulating film has a low hydrogen concentration. Consequently, a composition including carbon nitride according to the present invention is formed at a deposition temperature that enables to include hydrogen in the composition at 30 to 45 atomic %, for example, at temperatures of 100° C. or less, preferably 50° C. or less, more preferably from 20° C. to 30° C., with stability and adhesiveness kept.
