358 results about "Cycloalkene" patented technology

A cycloalkene or cycloolefin is a type of alkene hydrocarbon which contains a closed ring of carbon atoms, but has no aromatic character. Some cycloalkenes, such as cyclobutene and cyclopentene, can be used as monomers to produce polymer chains. Due to geometrical considerations, smaller cycloalkenes are almost always the cis isomers, and the term cis tends to be omitted from the names. In larger rings (from around 8 atoms), cis–trans isomerism of the double bond may occur.

Liquid fuel compositions

The present invention provides a liquid fuel composition comprising a distillation fraction of a component having at least one C4+ compound derived from a water-soluble oxygenated hydrocarbon prepared by a method comprising:
    • providing water and a water-soluble oxygenated hydrocarbon comprising a C1+O1+ hydrocarbon in an aqueous liquid phase and/or a vapor phase;
    • providing H2;
    • catalytically reacting in the liquid and/or vapor phase the oxygenated hydrocarbon with the H2 in the presence of a deoxygenation catalyst at a deoxygenation temperature and deoxygenation pressure to produce an oxygenate comprising a C1+O1-3 hydrocarbon in a reaction stream; and
    • catalytically reacting in the liquid and/or vapor phase the oxygenate in the presence of a condensation catalyst at a condensation temperature and condensation pressure to produce the C4+ compound,
    • wherein the C4+ compound comprises a member selected from the group consisting of C4+ alcohol, C4+ ketone, C4+ alkane, C4+ alkene, C5+ cycloalkane, C5+ cycloalkene, aryl, fused aryl, and a mixture thereof;
wherein the liquid fuel composition is selected from:
  • a gasoline composition having an initial boiling point in the range of from 15° C. to 70° C. (IP123), a final boiling point of at most 230° C. (IP123), a RON in the range of from 85 to 110 (ASTM D2699) and a MON in the range of from 75 to 100 (ASTM D2700);
  • a diesel fuel composition having an initial boiling point in the range of from 130° C. to 230° C. (IP123), a final boiling point of at most 410° C. (IP123) and a cetane number in the range of from 35 to 120 (ASTM D613); and
  • a kerosene composition having an initial boiling point in the range of from 80 to 150° C., a final boiling point in the range of from 200 to 320° C. and a viscosity at −20° C. in the range of from 0.8 to 10 mm2/s (ASTM D445).

    Composition containing quantum dot fluorescent body, molded body of quantum dot fluorescent body dispersion resin, structure containing quantum dot fluorescent body, light-emitting device, electronic apparatus, mechanical device, and method for producing the molded body of a quantum dot fluorescent body dispersion resin

    Provided are: a composition that contains a quantum dot fluorescent body and that is able to suppress quenching of the quantum dot fluorescent body; a molded body of a quantum dot fluorescent body dispersion resin; a structure containing a quantum dot fluorescent body; a light-emitting device; an electronic apparatus; a mechanical device; and a method for producing the molded body of a quantum dot fluorescent body dispersion resin. A quantum dot fluorescent body is dispersed in a cycloolefin (co)polymer that is a dispersion resin to form the composition containing a quantum dot fluorescent body, and the composition containing a quantum dot fluorescent body is molded, forming the molded body of the quantum dot fluorescent body dispersion resin. Also, a gas barrier layer that reduces the passage of oxygen to the molded body of the quantum dot dispersion resin is formed at a portion or the entirety of the surface of the molded body of the quantum dot fluorescent body dispersion resin. Furthermore, a light-emitting device is configured using the composition containing the quantum dot fluorescent body as a sealing material that seals an LED chip.

    Nanostructured polymer membranes for selective alcohol transport

    The present invention relates to copolymer compositions for alcohol-selective membranes and methods of selectively separating an alcohol such as ethanol from an aqueous solution using such membranes. The copolymer compositions may be block copolymers of polystyrene-polybutadiene-polystyrene (hereafter “SBS”) having cylindrical morphologies; graft diblock copolymers synthesized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization of two cycloalkene monomers, wherein at least one of the cycloalkene monomers is substituted with one or more polydialkylsiloxane groups; or triblock copolymers comprising a middle block comprising a polymerized cycloalkene monomer and two end groups. The synthesized graft and triblock copolymer compositions may have a spherical, lamellar, cylindrical, double diamond, or gyroid morphologies. The copolymer compositions may contain a structural block that imparts essential mechanical properties to the membrane (e.g., polystyrene) and may also contain an alcohol transporting block (e.g., polydimethylsiloxane or polybutadiene). The copolymer compositions may have a domain spacing and a flux, where the flux increases as the domain spacing increases. The copolymer compositions may also have an alcohol separation factor that increases as the domain spacing increases. The separation method may be carried out using pervaporation or vapor permeation techniques.
