A method and coating are provided for temporarily protecting a substrate or article during shipping, handling or storage by applying a removable protective coating over at least a portion of the substrate. The substrate may be flat or curved and may have zero, one or more functional coatings. A plurality of substrates with the protective coating of the invention may be arranged in a shipping container so that the protective coating reduces the possibility of damage to the substrate or optional functional coating. In one embodiment, the protective coating is the evaporation or reaction product of an aqueous coating composition containing a polyvinyl alcohol polymer which may be subsequently removed by aqueous washing, thermal decomposition or combustion. In another embodiment, the protective coating is formed by sputtering a substantially carbon coating onto the substrate. The carbon coating is subsequently removed by combustion. The protective coating may have identification materials, such as colorants or fragrance materials, such that different types of substrates and / or functional coatings can be distinguished from each other. Additionally, the temporary protective coating can improve the heating of a functionally coated glass substrate.

In such embodiments, the high temperature fuel cell may be either a MCFC or a SOFC. The disclosed systems relate to high temperature fuel cells exploiting gas separation devices in which a first gas mixture is to be separated so that a first product of the separation is enriched in a first component, while a second component is mixed with a displacement purge stream to form a second gas mixture, with provision to prevent cross contamination of purge gas components into the first product stream. The process may be applied to hydrogen (component A) enrichment from syngas mixtures such as fuel cell anode exhaust, where dilute carbon dioxide (component B) is to be rejected such as to the atmosphere or for recycle to the fuel cell cathode in the case of molten carbonate fuel cells, by purging with cathode exhaust oxygen-depleted air (as component C).

Rigidity against bending of the support plate in two directions can be secured by the first reinforcing projections and the second reinforcing projections, and the first reinforcing projections projecting into the cooling spaces extend in the flow direction of the coolant, and the second reinforcing projections project out of the cooling spaces, and the second reinforcing projections (15d) project out of the cooling spaces. Therefore the first and second reinforcing projections do not interfere with the flow of the coolant, thereby securing the cooling performance.

A method of making a composite metal sheet for cookware comprising the steps of: providing a roll pack of ordered layers consisting of (a) a layer of Alclad aluminum, (b) a layer of stainless steel foil, (c) a reusable plate or platen of stainless steel, (d) a layer of stainless steel foil, and (e) a layer of Alclad aluminum; heating the roll pack to a rolling temperature of about 725°-775° F., preferably about 750° F.; and rolling the heated roll pack in a rolling mill at a reduction of 10-20% in one pass to provide two roll bonded composite sheets, the first composite sheet comprising layers (a)-(b) above, and the second composite sheet comprising layers (d)-(e) above with plate (c) being reusable, wherein the plate of stainless steel is stationary relative to the layers of stainless steel foil during rolling as the roll pack passes through the mill, and wherein the plate transfers a bonding pressure to the aluminum and foil layers without tearing or displacing the foil. A phase change memory device includes a phase change memory unit and a heat sink. The phase change memory unit includes a phase change material layer pattern, a lower electrode beneath the phase change material layer pattern configured to heat the phase change material layer pattern, and an upper electrode on the phase change material layer pattern. The heat sink configured to absorb heat from the phase change memory unit. The heat sink has a top surface lower than a top surface of the upper electrode and is spaced apart from the phase change memory unit.
