Optimized Control System For Cooling Systems

A cooling system for providing conditioned air to a facility includes a chiller or other cooling subsystem, a cooling tower subsystem and one or more air handling units or process cooling units. The cooling subsystem may advantageously include one or more chillers (e.g., variable speed chillers, constant speed chillers, absorption chillers, etc.) and chilled fluid pumps. The cooling tower subsystem includes one or more cooling tower units and condenser fluid pumps. In some implementations, the air handling unit has a cooling coil and a variable volume fan. In some implementations, direct expansion (DX) cooling systems comprise compressors, evaporators and air-cooled, water-cooled or evaporatively-cooled condensing systems. Such systems can be controlled to reduce energy waste, improve occupant comfort and / or improve the thermal characteristics of the process cooling unit. The cooling system further comprises a control system which is configured to evaluate a cooling load value at the air handling unit and use the cooling load value to calculate at least one operational setpoint. The operational setpoint may advantageously be selected to improve the energy efficiency of the overall cooling system.

An all terrain vehicle has a frame assembly. A pair of front wheels and a pair of rear wheels support the frame assembly. A front fender assembly extends over at least a portion of the front wheels. An engine is disposed between the front wheels and the rear wheels. The engine is water-cooled using a radiator and fan combination that is positioned forward of the engine. A belt drive forms a portion of a transmission that transfers power from the engine to at least the rear wheels. The belt drive is air cooled with air that is pulled into the belt drive by fans positioned within a belt case. The air is drawn from an air chamber formed within the front fender assembly. The chamber is positioned vertically higher than the radiator and fan combination and rearward thereof. The air passes between the chamber and the belt case through a duct. The duct extends downward and incorporates a central trap portion. The duct is positioned to lie at least partially within an area that overlaps the fan from a front elevation view. The duct also bends across a central longitudinal plane from inlet to outlet to allow a compact configuration while positioning the duct in protected regions.

A method and apparatus for oxidizing materials used in semiconductor integrated circuits, for example, for oxidizing silicon to form a dielectric gate. An ozonator is capable of producing a stream of least 70% ozone. The ozone passes into an RTP chamber through a water-cooled injector projecting into the chamber. Other gases such as hydrogen to increase oxidation rate, diluent gas such as nitrogen or O2, enter the chamber through another inlet. The chamber is maintained at a low pressure below 20 Torr and the substrate is advantageously maintained at a temperature less than 800° C. Alternatively, the oxidation may be performed in an LPCVD chamber including a pedestal heater and a showerhead gas injector in opposition to the pedestal.

A heat conduit is connected to the heat transfer device and thermally communicating with the heat transfer device for transferring heat to the heat conduit from the heat transfer device. A cooling housing is connected to the heat conduit and the cooling housing thermally communicating with the heat conduit for transferring heat to the cooling housing from the heat conduit. The apparatus enables the replacement of circuit cards in the field because it eliminates the need to apply thermal-interface materials.

During some operational conditions, such as hot restart or spin cool, it may be desirable to heat the vane carrier to enlarge or at least prevent a decrease in compressor clearances. In such cases, a heated thermal fluid can be provided by reclaiming residual exhaust energy from a heat recovery steam generator. At any condition where improved performance is desired, such as at base load operation, the vane carrier can be cooled to minimize compressor clearances. A cooled thermal fluid can be bleed air from an upstream portion of the compressor, water-cooled high pressure bleed air from a downstream portion of the compressor, or feed water from the bottoming cycle in a combined cycle engine.

Collection of freshwater from hot humid ambient air is also provided for other uses, such as irrigation and farm animal drinking. Various methods are used for condensation of water vapor suspended in the air as alternative to conventional refrigeration cycles using CFC refrigerants. Devices are disclosed using naturally occurring brackish cold water, circulation of cooling water cooled by thermoelectric cooling or thermoacoustic refrigeration as well as evaporative cooling and transpiration cooling. Water produced by the systems may flow under gravitational forces entirely or with the assistance of boasting pumps.

Fiber optic infrared laser beam delivery system

A laser beam delivery system is disclosed, which allows transmission of high-power infrared light through a hollow core photonic band gap (HC-PBG) fiber made of non-silica-based glass. In this system, the infrared beam first passes through input coupling optics which focus the beam onto the hollow core of the HC-PBG fiber. In front of the input end of the HC-PBG fiber, there is provided a mask with a hole aligned with the hollow core, and the infrared beam first passes through this hole before entering the hollow core of the HC-PBG fiber. This protects the photonic band gap structure from being damaged by the beam. After passing through the HC-PBG fiber, which may be from one to several hundred meters in length, the infrared beam exits at the output end of the fiber and passes through output coupling optics which collimate and focus the beam onto a desired target. The various components of the system may be water cooled during the operation or subjected to a gas purge to prevent condensation or gas ionization.

Method and system for combing solar energy thermal power generation with biomass power generation

The invention relates to a method and a system for combining solar energy thermal power generation with biomass power generation. When the method is used for generating electricity in the daytime (a fine day), one path of heat transfer oil heated in a heat collection field passes through a heat exchanger to ensure that counter-flow water is heated up into superheated steam at the temperature of between 360 and 380 DEG C; and the other path of the heat transfer oil heated in the heat collection field passes through the heat exchanger to heat up a fused salt so as to perform energy storage. The water heated in a water cooled wall of a biomass boiler is changed into steam which enters a steam header and a steam-water separator, then is heated to the temperature of between 535 and 545 DDEG C after being sent into a super-heater of the boiler together with the steam at the temperature of between 360 and 380 DEG C, and then is supplied to a steam turbine to drive a generator to finish the power generation process. During receiving electric valley adjustment, the biomass boiler maintains the minimum stable combustion state. The self power generation of the method and the system can be used for supplying electricity to an electric heater in a fused salt heat storage system to heat the fused salt and perform secondary energy storage for a fused salt heat tank. During the night, or when a solar energy condition is not good, the heat energy stored in the fused salt is released by the heat exchanger to generate electricity.

A mounting block and an improved mounting arrangement for apparatus used in metal melting, refining and processing, particularly those apparatus adapted to steel making in an electric arc furnace, such as burners, lances and the like with supersonic oxygen lancing capability. The mounting block is fluid cooled to survive the hostile environment of the electric arc furnace and is designed to rest on the step between the side wall and hearth of the furnace without any substantial change to the structure of the furnace. The mounting block comprises a plurality of fluid cooling conduits surrounding an aperture which is formed through the block and adapted to mount the apparatus. The mounting arrangement includes utilizing the mounting block to mount an apparatus with supersonic oxidizing gas or lancing capability in an electric arc furnace. The apparatus is mounted by passing it through an aperture in a water cooled side panel aligned with the mounting aperture in the mounting block. Because the mounting block is approximately the width of the step, the discharge opening of the apparatus is moved closer to the surface of the melt and toward the center of the furnace thereby providing increased efficiency. The discharge opening will now also extend past the inner edge of the step so that the oxidizing gas flow pattern does not degrade the hearth material and other furnace equipment mounted nearby.

By the system provided by the invention, the melting furnace slag is quenched and granulated, and the high-temperature sensible heat resource of the furnace slag is sufficiently recovered and is used for generation on the basis that the water activity quality of the furnace slag is not influenced.

Water-cooled heat management system of electric automobile battery pack

The invention discloses a water-cooled heat management system of an electric automobile battery pack. A power battery is fixed between an upper fixing baffle and a lower fixing baffle; a cooling separator is arranged tightly against the power battery; a cooling channel is disposed in the cooling separator, two ends of the cooling channel are communicated with a liquid inlet pipe and a liquid outlet pipe; the liquid inlet pipe is connected with a water pump through a liquid inlet connector; the liquid outlet pipe conveys heat transfer working media cooled by the cooling channel to a heat exchanger and a heating insulation water tank through a liquid outlet connector; the cooling separator is provided with a temperature sensor; and a BMS reads temperature data of the temperature sensor and controls the heat transfer working media conveyed to the inner portion of the cooling separator. The water-cooled heat management system solves the control of temperature of the battery pack when the battery is charged or discharged.
