The invention discloses an extracting method, a detection method and application of total alkaloids in sophora tonkinensis. The extracting method comprises two ways: (1) conducting heating, backflow and extraction on sophora tonkinensis medicinal material by 70-95% ethyl alcohol to obtain fluid extract; conducting extraction with chloroform after watering suspension and acid adjusting treatment to obtain the total alkaloids; (2) conducting percolating extraction on the sophora tonkinensis medicinal material; conducting elution extraction by 732 cation exchange resin; conducting chloroform elution treatment on the resin to obtain the total alkaloids. The obtained total alkaloids are detected through a thin layer chromatography; trichloromethane-methyl alcohol-dense ammonia detection solution (4:1:0.1) is adopted as a developing solvent; sophocarpidine, oxymatrine and oxidized sophocarpine are taken as determined ingredients in the total alkaloids; the result is accurate and reliable. According to the invention, the extracting method is simple in process; the obtained total alkaloids are provided with pharmacologic action of gastric ulcer resistance, anticoagulation, cerebral ischemia resistance, antithrombus property, blood fat reduction, and the like, and are provided with relatively broad market development prospect.
