Encapsulated colorants for waterborne coating compositions are provided as a system and kit with a method for tinting the water borne coating compositions. The encapsulated colorant comprises at least one water dispersible tinting material to be released into the based coating composition upon dissolution of the encapsulating layer to give the coating composition color. The encapsulating layer surrounding the colorant has at least one polymer that is soluble in aqueous medium surrounding the tinting material wherein the layer has a thickness from about 0.5 to about 5 mils and can dissolve to release the dispersible tinting material in an aqueous coating composition having about 25 to about 45 volume percent solids and about 55 to about 75 volume percent water in less than 15 minutes with agitation at a temperature in the range of about 50 to about 110° F. One or more of the encapsulated colorants as a pouch or pouches are contained in a moisture resistant package until ready for dissolution in the coating composition. A plurality of the encapsulating colorants as pouches in moisture resistant packaging comprise a system which along with one or more clear or tint base water borne coating compositions comprise a kit. A method involves placing one or more pouches in a volume of coating composition with stirring or shaking to provide a color to the composition.

Methods for producing submicron polytetrafluoroethylene powder and products thereof

A method for producing submicron polytetrafluoroethylene (“PTFE”) powder in a free-flowing, readily dispersible form. The irradiated PTFE starting material is placed in a desired solvent and undergoes grinding until the PTFE particles reach submicron size. The submicron particles are subsequently recovered from the solvent and dried to form a powder that may have particles less than 1.00 μm in size. The dry PTFE powder may then be readily dispersed to submicron size into a desired application system. The submicron PTFE powder of this method is free-flowing, readily dispersible in various application systems, tends not to “dust” or self-agglomerate. Improved aqueous and organic dispersions of submicron PTFE particles may also be formed that display increased stability and require much less agitation than other processes of forming such dispersions. Such improved PTFE dispersions may be formed with or without the addition of surfactants, wetting agents, rheology modifiers, pH-adjusting agents, and the like.

Disclosed are the deactivation mechanism and chemistry platforms that make high-silicon hardmask films photo-imageable like positive-tone photoresist for microphotolithography. If not radiated, films become insoluble in developers due to crosslinking reactions promoted by catalyst. Compositions of positive-tone photo-imageable hardmask based on the chemistry of polysiloxane and polysilsesquioxanes are disclosed as well. Also disclosed is a method of modifying polysiloxane and polysilsesquioxane films for controlled diffusion of catalysts, photoacid generators, and quenchers. Further disclosed are processes of using photo-imageable hardmasks to create precursor structures on semiconductor substrates with or without an intermediate layer.

The present inventions relates to a solid composition and an aqueous dispersion comprising nanoparticles of the anti-retroviral drugs lopinavir and ritonavir. The hydrophilic polymer is suitably selected from polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), a polyvinyl alcohol-polyethylene glycol graft copolymer, a block copolymer of polyoxyethylene and polyoxypropylene, polyethylene glycol, hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC), and polyvinylpyrrolidone, or a combination thereof. Novel organosilicon-treated cosmetic powders, for example, a pigment, extender pigment or filler are free from residual hydrogen, have a smooth feel, good skin adhesion, good color and spreadability and resistance to acids and alkalis. The treated powders are useful in cosmetics such as powder formulations, oil-in-water and water-in-oil emulsions, anhydrous make-up and lipstick. Treatment can be effected with a linear reactive alkylpolysiloxane having substituted in repeating units in the backbone of the molecule both cationic and anionic groups, for example aminoethylaminopropyl and alkoxy groups. The organosilicon compound can be adsorbed and chemically bonded to the surface of the powder by heat treatment. The alkylpolysiloxane compound can have a degree of polymerization of from 5 to 100, preferably 10-15. A process for producing the treated pigment is also disclosed as are cosmetic formulations made with the treated pigment. The inventive treatment is effective for a wide range of cosmetic powders including inorganic pigments, organic lakes and hard-to-coat powders such as mica-based powders, porous silica and the like.

The composition is in the form of an aseptic liquid creamer that is shelf-stable for at least nine months, and provides high whitening capacity and a pleasant mouth-feel with no discernable feathering or fat separation when added to aqueous media of beverages at different pHs, hardnesses and temperatures.
