System and method for enhancing computer-generated images of terrain on aircraft displays

A system and method are disclosed for enhancing the visibility and ensuring the correctness of terrain and navigation information on aircraft displays, such as, for example, continuous, three-dimensional perspective view aircraft displays conformal to the visual environment. More specifically, an aircraft display system is disclosed that includes a processing unit, a navigation system, a database for storing high resolution terrain data, a graphics display generator, and a visual display. One or more independent, higher precision databases with localized position data, such as navigation data or position data is onboard. Also, one or more onboard vision sensor systems associated with the navigation system provides real-time spatial position data for display, and one or more data links is available to receive precision spatial position data from ground-based stations. Essentially, before terrain and navigational objects (e.g., runways) are displayed, a real-time correction and augmentation of the terrain data is performed for those regions that are relevant and/or critical to flight operations, in order to ensure that the correct terrain data is displayed with the highest possible integrity. These corrections and augmentations performed are based upon higher precision, but localized onboard data, such as navigational object data, sensor data, or up-linked data from ground stations. Whenever discrepancies exist, terrain data having a lower integrity can be corrected in real-time using data from a source having higher integrity data. A predictive data loading approach is used, which substantially reduces computational workload and thus enables the processing unit to perform such augmentation and correction operations in real-time.

Receiver

A receiver for receiving a multi-carrier modulated symbol is arranged to suppress a burst noise signal which may have been induced in the symbol. The symbol includes a plurality of pilot carriers as well as a plurality of data bearing carriers. The receiver comprises a burst noise detection processor operable to detect the temporal position of the burst noise signal which may have corrupted the symbol within a period occupied by the symbol, and a channel estimation processor operable to generate a decimated noise signal corresponding to the burst noise, from the recovered pilot carriers. An inverse Fourier transform of the decimated noise signal provides a plurality of estimated versions of the burst noise signal. A noise signal processor is operable to generate an estimate of the burst noise signal by identifying one of the plurality of estimated burst noise versions at the detected temporal location of the burst noise signal. The noise signal processor may be operable to set the signal samples other than the identified estimate of the burst noise signal to zero and to perform a Fourier transform, to provide a frequency domain version of the burst noise signal, thereby interpolating the decimated noise signal. The frequency domain noise signal estimate may be cancelled from the symbol by a noise cancellation processor in the frequency domain, before data is recovered from the symbol. The receiver finds application for Digital Video Broadcasting in which COFDM is employed.

High-speed PCB and difference via hole impedance control method

The invention discloses a high-speed PCB which comprises an insulating layer, line layers and a reference layer. A difference transmission line is arranged in each line layer. Each line layer comprises an outer layer line layer arranged outside the insulating layer and an inner layer line layer arranged inside the insulating layer. The reference layer is arranged between each inner layer line layer and each outer layer line layer. An anti-pad is arranged in the reference layer. The difference transmission lines of the line layers are communicated through via holes. Grounded screen holes are formed around the via holes and / or pads are arranged in the via holes near the reference line and the inner layer line layer and / or short columns are arranged in the via holes. The invention further discloses a design method of difference via hole impedance control of the high-speed PCB. Coupling of the via holes can be reduced by arranging the grounded screen holes around the via holes, transmission loss of the via holes is reduced, integrity of signals is improved, impedance of the via holes can be identical with impedance of the difference transmission lines through reasonable design of the via holes, reflection of the signals is reduced, and integrity of the signals is improved.
