isotope production reactor comprises a reactor container, a
control rod guide
pipe, a
control rod drive mechanism and a
control rod, wherein a part of the control rod guide
pipe stretches into the reactor core, the control rod drive mechanism is located in the control rod guide
pipe, and the control rod is connected with the control rod drive mechanism. The reactor core of the medical
isotope production reactor is characterized in that the control rod stretches to the position below the liquid level of a solution in the reactor container and is more than 2 cm away from the liquid level of the solution in the reactor container, and the control rod guide pipe is located above the liquid level. According to the reactor core of the medical isotope production reactor, the control rod is directly inserted into the solution of the reactor core, and therefore absorption of
neutron by the stainless guide pipe and water in the pipe is avoided. According to the reactor core of the medical isotope production reactor, a safety rod, a compensation rod and an automatic adjusting rod are distinguished from one another, only a control guide pipe is eliminated, and an absorption body is directly inserted into feed liquid. In this way, stainless steel can be used as the absorption body, and a
boron carbide absorption body and a
graphite following body are eliminated. Due to the fact that the control guide pipe is eliminated, the isolation of fuel solutions and water is achieved, and no control rod guide pipe stretches out of the lower portion of the reactor container any longer.
