A vaso-occlusive device includes a microcoil formed into a minimum energy state secondary configuration comprising a plurality of curved segments, each defining a discrete axis, whereby the device, in its minimum energy state configuration, defines multiple axes. In a preferred embodiment, the secondary configuration-comprises a plurality of interconnected closed loops defining a plurality of discrete axes. In a second embodiment, the secondary configuration defines a wave-form like structure comprising an array of laterally-alternating open loops defining a plurality of separate axes. In a third embodiment, the secondary configuration forms a series of tangential closed loops, wherein the entire structure subtends a first angle of arc, and wherein each adjacent pair of loops defines a second angle of arc. In a fourth embodiment, the secondary configuration forms a logarithmic spiral. In all embodiments, the device, in its secondary configuration, has a dimension that is substantially larger than the largest dimension of the vascular site (i.e., aneurysm) in which it is to be deployed. Thus, confinement of the device within an aneurysm causes it to assume a three-dimensional configuration with a higher energy state than the minimum energy state. Because the minimum energy state configuration of the device is larger (in at least one dimension) than the aneurysm, the deployed device is constrained by its contact with the walls of the aneurysm from returning to its minimum energy state configuration. The engagement of the device with the aneurysm wall minimizes shifting or tumbling due to blood flow. Furthermore, the secondary configuration is not conducive to “coin stacking,” thereby minimizing the compaction experienced.

According to the method, changes of battery voltage are considered in the estimation process, and the battery state and the vehicle driving range can be more comprehensively reflected compared with an existing battery state-of-charge (SOC) estimation method. The air conditioner system comprises a compressor, an indoor heat exchanger, an outdoor heat exchanger, a reversing assembly, a first throttling element, a second throttling element, a gas-liquid separator and a liquid storage device. The compressor comprises a first air cylinder, a second air cylinder, an exhaust opening and an air return opening. The exhaust volume ratio of the second air cylinder to the first air cylinder is smaller than or equal to 0.1. The reversing assembly comprises a first valve opening, a second valve opening, a third valve opening and a fourth valve opening. When the air conditioner system conducts cooling, the first valve opening is communicated with the second valve opening, and the third valve opening is communicated with the fourth valve opening. When the air conditioner system conducts heating, the first valve opening is communicated with the third valve opening, the second valve opening is communicated with the fourth valve opening, and a gas outlet of the gas-liquid separator is communicated with the second air cylinder. According to the air conditioner system, the exhaust volume ratio of the second air cylinder to the first air cylinder is made to be smaller than or equal to 0.1, so that the performance of the air conditioner system can be effectively improved, and the air conditioner can reach the optimal state of energy efficiency easily.

Multi element, multi color solid state LED/laser

A light emitting diode (LED) grown on a substrate doped with one or more rare earth or transition element. The dopant ions absorb some or all of the light from the LED's active layer, pumping the electrons on the dopant ion to a higher energy state. The electrons are naturally drawn to their equilibrium state and they emit light at a wavelength that depends on the type of dopant ion. The invention is particularly applicable to nitride based LEDs emitting UV light and grown on a sapphire substrate doped with chromium. The chromium ions absorb the UV light, exciting the electrons on ions to a higher energy state. When they return to their equilibrium state they emit red light and some of the red light will emit from the LED's surface. The LED can also have active layers that emit green and blue and UV light, such that the LED emits green, blue, red light and UV light which combines to create white light. Alternatively, it can have one active layer and grown on a sapphire substrate doped with Cr, Ti, and Co such that the substrate absorbs the UV light and emits blue, green, and red light. The invention is also capable of providing a tunable LED over a variety of color shades. The invention is also applicable to solid state laser having one or more active layers emitting UV light with the laser grown on a sapphire substrate doped with one or more rare earth or transition elements.
