A spectral representation of an audio signal having consecutive audio frames can be derived more efficiently, when a common time warp is estimated for any two neighbouring frames, such that a following block transform can additionally use the warp information. Thus, window functions required for successful application of an overlap and add procedure during reconstruction can be derived and applied, the window functions already anticipating the re-sampling of the signal due to the time warping. Therefore, the increased efficiency of block-based transform coding of time-warped signals can be used without introducing audible discontinuities.

• • a robust hash extraction step wherein a robust hash is extracted from audio content, said step comprising:
    • dividing the audio content in frames;
    • applying a transformation procedure on said frames to compute, for each frame, transformed coefficients;
    • applying a normalization procedure on the transformed coefficients to obtain normalized coefficients, wherein said normalization procedure comprises computing the product of the sign of each coefficient of said transformed coefficients by an amplitude-scaling-invariant function of any combination of said transformed coefficients;
    • applying a quantization procedure on said normalized coefficients to obtain the robust hash of the audio content; and
  • a comparison step wherein the robust hash is compared with reference hashes to find a match.

A telephonic handset comprises an active noise reduction (ANR) system. The ANR system comprises a reference microphone and an IIR filter. The IIR filter is receivingly coupled to the reference microphone with respect to noise reference signals, and it is transmittingly coupled to the receiver transducing element of the handset. A compact, robust, wear resistant, and high performance electrically insulating gap sub for use with borehole EM Telemetry is disclosed. In one embodiment, the gap sub may include an externally threaded mandrel separated from an internally threaded housing by a dielectric material. Additionally, some embodiments may include an external gap ring for separating the upper and lower electrical halves of the sub which offers structural support, acts as the primary external seal, and provides an abrasion resistant non-conductive length on the exterior.
