Digital camera and method of controlling the same

The present invention is directed to obtaining an image having predetermined brightness, while making the degradation of the image as little as possible. A distance (an irradiation distance d) at which a predetermined amount of reflected light can be obtained is obtained from the guide number Gn of a strobe and the f-stop value F (the focal distance f of a zoom lens). When the strobe is used, it is judged whether or not a subject is positioned within the irradiation distance d. When the irradiation distance d of the strobe is shorter than the distance to the subject, that is, the subject is beyond the irradiation distance d of the strobe, an imaging signal is amplified than usual.

Method for modifying a copy protected video signal with a negative amplitude pulse

An enhancement is provided for a copy protection method that discourages copying (e.g., by video taping) of video signals. The enhancement adds negative amplitude pulses to the video signal at a location in the horizontal blanking interval “back porch” after the color burst. This enhances jitter when the copy protected signal is recorded on a VCR (video cassette recorder) and the recording is replayed, thereby making the recorded signal not suitable for viewing.

Digital radio processor architecture with reduced dco modulation range requirement

A method of achieving reduced modulation range requirement in a Digitally Controlled Oscillator (DCO) which is deployed as part of a DRP (Digital Radio Processor) and tuned to a tuning frequency range having operating-channel center-frequencies, wherein phase difference between consecutive samples is termed as FCW (Frequency Control Word), uses the steps of digitally modifying and limiting the FCW so that the FCW does not exceed known FCW thresholds, e.g., chosen from π / 2, π / 4, π / 8, and redistributing the FCWs while maintaining a cumulative sum of phases and without significant EVM (Error Vector Magnitude) degradation. The FCW threshold can be chosen arbitrarily and need not be in the form of π / 2n. The method uses a FCW limiting algorithm which reduces supply voltage sensitivity of the DCO and enables significant reduction in area of capacitor bank which would be otherwise needed.

High frequency multi-antenna transmitter(s)

A radio transmitter having a RF signal source. A splitter receives an input signal from the signal source and divides that input signal into two output signals. Alternatively, two signal generators provide the two output signals. These output signals are fed into two phase shifters. A phase control signal is applied to each phase shifter so that the vector sum of the output signals represents the desired amplitude and phase of the desired transmitted signal. The outputs of both phase shifters are both frequency multiplied and amplified before recombining to form the transmitter output signal. Moreover, the outputs can be transmitted separately and combined at the receiver. Alternatively, in the case of two signal sources, the signal paths may be at different transmitter locations.
