A device is provided, in direct skin contact, surrounding an injured area for the treatment, reduction of joint inflammation, edema and excitation of neural and muscular stimulation associated with human and mammal tissues. This therapeutic light source includes a multiplicity of light emitting diodes (LED's) found in the ranges of 350 nm to 1000+ nm and fiber optic connections. A neoprene type material or other non-allergenic material is used to set the LED's and fiber optics in layers consisting of contact with the skin to few centimeters from the skin tissue. Distance will vary from contact or near contact with devices to several millimeters of separation. Each LED array is independently controlled allowing for optimal modulation of light frequencies and wavelengths. Technology is integrated allowing for biomedical feedback of tissue temperature and other statistical information. A low voltage, portable power supply, is integrated into the device as well as an analog / digital, input / output connection device. The design will be created for continuous wear, flexibility and comfort.

Magnetic resonance method and apparatus for automated analysis of joint inflammation, joint proteoglycan proportion, and joint osteoarthritis

In a magnetic resonance method and apparatus for generating an analysis of an inflammation of a joint, for determining a proteoglycan proportion of a joint, and for generating an analysis of osteoarthritis of a joint, for a predetermined region within a body of a patient, a three-dimensional MR image data set is generated with a magnetic resonance imaging scanner. At least, a portion of a joint is located within the region. For each of several different automatically determined layers, a two-dimensional MR image is calculated from the three-dimensional MR image data set. For each layer, the thickness of a predetermined tissue, which is represented in the two-dimensional MR image corresponding to the layer, is determined, by means of which an analysis of a joint inflammation is automatically determined depending on the respective thicknesses. A further layer in the region is also automatically determined and, after injecting a contrast medium, a two-dimensional T1-weighted MR image is generated for this layer, from which a proteoglycan proportion is automatically determined. From the analysis of the joint inflammation and the proteoglycan proportion, it is then possible to perform a reproducible analysis of osteoarthritis of the joint.

The invention discloses an MRI hip joint inflammation segmentation and classification automatic quantitative grading sequential method, solves the problem that hip joint inflammation areas are difficult to quantify and grade due to uneven distribution of shapes, sizes and voxel values of hip joints, and realizes automatic accurate quantification and grading evaluation of the hip joint inflammationareas. According to the method, the hip joint inflammation area label value is modified in an inverse exponential proportion according to the voxel value, so that the problem of poor segmentation result caused by large voxel value difference of the hip joint inflammation area is solved; according to the method, a multi-scale convolution module GMS is designed to improve the segmentation effect ofhip joint inflammation regions with large shape and size differences; aiming at the problem that hip joint inflammation regions with small proportions are difficult to classify, a segmentation modeland a classification model are fused to improve the classification precision. According to the method, integrated automatic quantitative grading of hip joint inflammatory regions with multiple scalesand large voxel value differences is realized, and the quantitative grading efficiency is improved. The method can be used for quantitative and graded automatic treatment of the MRI hip joint inflammation area.
