This invention provides a method for enhancing the
efficacy of *Citrus trifoliata* (bitter orange) cultivation and suppressing weeds, belonging to the field of ecological planting technology. This method is suitable for mature fruiting *Citrus trifoliata* forests, achieving both fertilization and
weed suppression. It efficiently combines woody
medicinal herbs, legumes, and herbaceous
medicinal herbs, rationally
intercropping them according to their growth and development cycles to fully utilize the
plant growth cycles and achieve the goals of efficient
land use, soil improvement, and diversified income
synergy. This is of great significance for promoting the standardized and ecological cultivation of Chinese
medicinal herbs. Using this method, the annual application of chemical
nitrogen fertilizer can be reduced, increasing
soil organic matter content; a year-round continuous
weed suppression
system is constructed, with wild peas covering in winter and
cassia seed covering in summer, improving
weed control efficiency and reducing manual weeding costs; significantly increasing the fruit setting rate, single
fruit weight, and effective fruit components of *Citrus trifoliata*; and increasing
economic benefits in the forest.
