Methods and systems for managing financial accounts

Processing systems and methods receive events, such as a transaction to an account, and converts the events into messages. Each message then invokes one or more rules which are executed by a rules engine. The execution of these rules may invoke the execution of additional rules. After all rules have executed, the account associated with the event is updated, such as by projecting the account. The rules have their parameters defined in a repository so that the parameters can be easily changed without any need to recompile. The processing systems receive authorizations and other transactions and runs in real-time as transactions arrive. As a result, balances are updated continuously and accounts are read and updated only when there is activity. Hierarchy is user configurable, including multiple hierarchy to any depth. System operations are controlled by rules and their parameters and most modifications can be accomplished without access to source code.

Method and architecture for an interactive two-way data communication network

A two-way data communication device such as a data ready cellular telephone, a two-way pager, or a telephone communicates via a two-way data communication network with a server computer on a computer network that has an interface to the two-way data communication network, i.e., is coupled to the two-way data communication network. For example, the computer network can be a corporate wide area network, a corporate local area network, the Internet, or any combination of computer networks. The two-way data communication device utilizes a client module to transmit message including a resource selector chosen by the user to a server on a server computer on the computer network. The server processes the message and transmits a response over the two-way data communication network to the client module. The client module interprets the response and presents the response to the user via a structured user interface. Alternatively, the user transmits a request that directs the server to transmit the response to the request to another location or to another user.

Dynamic virtual local area network (VLAN) interface configuration

Techniques are described for dynamically building an Ethernet virtual local area network (VLAN) interface in a network device. The techniques allow dynamic building of a second VLAN interface over a first VLAN interface statically built over an Ethernet port configured to support dynamic VLANs in a network device. A network device may receive a plurality of Ethernet packets from subscriber devices and dynamically build a second VLAN interface over the first VLAN interface for each of the subscribers. Once the second VLAN interface is built, the network device dynamically builds interface columns over the second VLAN interface for each protocol associated with the Ethernet packets. The network device may then authenticate a user associated with the plurality of Ethernet packets. Once the user has logged out of the network device, the network device may tear down the interface columns while persistently maintaining the corresponding second VLAN interface.

Integral membrane layer formed from a photosensitive layer in an imageable photoresist laminate

An integral membrane can be formed in sheet-like photosensitive laminate structures. The process for forming the structure involves coating a first relatively thin photosensitive layer on a substrate or carrier film, then forming a second relatively thicker photosensitive layer (when compared to the first layer) on the first layer. The structure is exposed by directing appropriate actinic radiation against the substrate, film or carrier layer under controlled conditions such that only the first layer is substantially exposed to radiation resulting in polymerization or crosslinking and a substantial reduction in the solubility of the first layer. The relatively thinner less soluble layer then acts as a peelable integral release layer in the photosensitive structure. The thicker second layer can then be imagewise exposed to actinic radiation, and then used conventionally in imaging processes such as sandblasting.

Zwitterionic polysaccharide polymers having antifouling, antimicrobial and optical transparency properties

The present invention is directed to facile method of zwitteration of polysaccharides or other polymers with carboxybetaine (CB) or another zwitterionic betaine. Zwitterionic CB functional groups were seamlessly integrated onto dextran backbone via a one pot reaction. Different degrees of substitution were achieved by repeating the reaction and controlling the ratio of reactants. CB side groups in CB-functionalized dextran (CB-Dex) can switch between cationic and zwitterionic forms under acidic and neutral conditions. The ring structure formation was confirmed by heteronuclear multiple-bond correlation (gHMBC) 2D-NMRAntifouling properties of CB-Dex were tested in the form of hydrogel using a fluorescent method. The amount of adsorbed protein decreases dramatically with the increase of CB content. For the cell attachment study, there was almost no cell attaching on the CB-Dex hydrogel surface with the higher CB content. In addition, the optical transparency of hydrogel was enhanced significantly by increasing the CB content.
